The Kristnas were out in full force last night. Right on the corner. Chanting Harry Christna.
I don't understand what is going on with them.

My question. Unrepresented 12-12-2004, 03:52 PM I am able to see at least one positive of the annoying 60 second rule.:| Von Apfelstrudel 12-12-2004, 04:08 PM Who is Harry Christna and what does he stand for/belive in? maybe he means "happy Christmas" Myrddin 12-12-2004, 04:10 PM Hare Krishna :D. Krishna is a Hindu god, they are just praying to him.The Hare Krishna's (the International Society for Krishna Consciousness) are just Hindu sect that concentrates on Krishna. What about Sheva and Vishnu? Where did they go, everyone was so happy? Don't like the sound of it, sounds like a knock-off. Myrddin 12-12-2004, 04:18 PM What about Sheva and Vishnu? Well Hindus believe in many gods and goddess but I think they are all aspects of one god or a group of gods. Krishna is an avatar (an incarnation) of Vishnu. I dont have any serious problems with these guys but I was annoyed by them a few times with them trying to sell me books on the street etc. They are evangelical Hindus, they actively try convert people to their faith. They aren't that bad. I get the feeling I could do just about anything to them and they would still have a smile and say "How are you doing?" They aren't dangerous at all. At least that's the feeling I get. There is always that guy in The Temple of Doom that can get you. "Katemashocktelay! You betrayedSheva! Myrddin 12-12-2004, 04:42 PM The followers of Hinduism are usually very tolerant of other faiths but that isn't to say they wouldn't defend themselves. No_Brakes 08-02-2008, 11:21 AM I was somewhat amused to see a guest perusing this thread. Sort of a blast from the past for me, as I remember them being all over the place here back in the 70s. They even would come into Gino's and chant - till they got tossed for not buying anything, of course. (Some of you who remember what a Gino Giant was may be amused by this. ;) ) In the subway stations, their leaflets were actively competing for "dropping space" with the pigeons doing their fly-by poops! lol Hell, with all the Mormons, Muslims, Scientologists, Jehovahs Witnesses, and all that other rot around here, you'd think the Hare Krishnas would still be around squawking about their "religious rights" too! |
