Do you think cartoons are for everyone or just kids?

I've been watching a lot of King of the Hill lately. I don't think it's particularly enjoyable for anyone under 10.

I use to like SpongeBob when it first came out. It's gotten wierd lately.

I watch a lot of cartoons with my kids. If I don't like what I see or hear the television goes off. Yeah, thats harsh LOL. :p

I think cartoons are for everyone. I'm 20 and i still enjoy the Warner Brothers cartoons like Bugs Bunny. It is good wholesome fun

Also i do enjoy to watch Tom & Jerry whenever it's on.

these classic cartoon's are good wholesome entertainment to be enjoyed by the whole family as a unit and not just by kjids or by adults

plus also now, there is cartoons for the adult market and teenager market like south park, simpsons, futurama, family guy which couldn't possibly be good for the young to view.

Some are for everyone...

My favorite are

2) Beavis and Butthead
3) South Park
4) Simpsons
5) Futurama
6) King of the Hill
7) Drawn Together

The rest kind of suck

I'll sit and watch some cartoons with my nephew like Dora and Teen Titans. I however am enjoying FullMetal Alchemist which I don't think my nephew would like.

depends on the cartoon. some are just too retarded for anyone over 8 to enjoy without the help of mind altering substances. invader zim is always awesome

Cartoons are not only for the young, but not for everyone either :p

I generally like people who like cartoons :)

I am ALL about the Fairly Oddparents, little bits of sarcasm, and 80's references that the kids i babysit for dont get. ;)

Spongebob,... just not funny after watching fairly oddparents. And I pretty much like the nickelodeon stuff, Hey Arnold, All Grown Up, and Cartoon Network is crazy, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, e-yuck!! and Adult Swim. Yeah i like that.

I think cartoons are for adults and kids, c'mon if we could watch the Looney Tunes we saw as a kid now, i'm sure we'd all still really really enjoy them, and maybe just a little more so now. ;)

I am wary of people who dont watch any cartoons... like ANY cartoons, EVER.

I agree though, younger kids wouldn't understand most of it, since it deals with very mature subjects, and not just gross stuff, mind you!

Anime is a lot better than American cartoons. They cater to people of all ages, sexes and tastes.

I'd disagree with that, there are plenty of people who dislike animè. I've sampled quite a few of animès, and I can't say I've found any that come anywhere near the good old WB or Disney stuff. Shorts, that is. I find old disney movies to be highly overrated.

Yes some cartoons have complex humor which would be over the heads of most children, also the imagery and complexity of storyline (plus lots of sexuality in many of them) in anime put them firmly in the adult section.

I watch cartoons with my kids.... and anything that gets kids to sit down and be quiet for a while that isnt violent is okay in my book.

cartoons can be violent specially the Simpsons!
I have to admit that i do enjoy them sometimes! :D

For everyone ...In most cartoon and anime, the is more than meets the eye anyway ... Either way, if an adult isn't somewhere still a child, he's not fully human ...
Simpsons and Futurama are current favourite (I think I've been watching "the devil's hands are idle playthings" about 20 times last months ...)

Family Guy is great series. They just finished another season and it's going to be shown in May. I can't wait!

I think a lot of new cartoons are aimed at older people, and even childrens cartoons have jokes adults will appreciate, so they aren't bored to tears if they have to take their kids to the cinema.

I like South Park, but its definitly not for kids, there was one where they swore about 160 times, one where Cartman got some guy to eat his parents... Its really funny though.

Old Looney Toons are great too. And there are some great new kids films, like the Incredibles, I heard we are living in a new golden age with computer animation.

If you need more anime series to try, consider going Japanese(translated, of course)

1)Tri-gun
2)Samurai Champloo
3)Sailor Moon
4)Full-Metal Alchemist
5)the comics-----those are just so good.

there's a lot more cool anime if you want to check it out.

Cartoons in general are for everyone but there are obviously some kinds that are inappropriate for different age groups like children or people who don't like seeing violence. But I for one will never get too old for cartoons -- kind of being a Toys 'R Us kid I guess.

Some of my all-time favorites: She-Ra, Voltron, Transformers, Care Bears, Superman, Batman, Spider-man, X-men, Animaniacs, the Simpsons, Futurama

My stance on this subject is simple. Cartoons are for everyone. There are some, such as "Dora the Explorer" and "Arther", that aren't meant for people over the age of 8. Also, there are some, such as "south park", "Futurama", "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons", that are meant for more mature audiences. Oh, and while I'm still mildly interested in this topic, Dark Wing Duck is THE most retard television series ever and causes liver desease, don't F**king watch it.

Agreed. No Dork Wing Duck. What bout Ducktails or Tailspin?

Another example of an "adult" cartoon is Clone High... and there are lots others I'm sure... I think cartoons used to be aimed predominanly towards kids but cartoons like the Simpsons and Family Guy represent a shift sort of.. and now there are cartoons that appeal to all ages... So now it's gotten to the point that there is no one age group that cartoons are geared towards....

Speaking of violent cartoons, has anyone heard of the cartoon movie Watership Down? It's from 1978 but it's one of my faves... it's about a group of rabbits who flee their doomed warren and face many dangers to find and protect their new home..

WATERSHIP DOWN, whilst not embraced by the mainstream....and only a handful of animation buffs (unfortunately), is a Cult Classic amongst MANY "underground" fans...myself included.. :nice:

For classic cartoons that appeal to little children (and stoners) with their whimsical surrealism, while providing some subtle titillation for adults, see Betty.

Not a big fan of anime. Whenever I've tried, I've been in deathly fear of someone seeing me watching it.

I hate Drawn Together. While something South Park manages to make something inappropriate and gross into hilarity, DT seems to attempt to take such things to the limit in the hopes that people will find it funny. I just didn't laugh. Sort of ho hum, to me. And from what I understand, it's slated to be cancelled if it hasn't been so far.

But Family Guy owns my soul.

When Zalka first came to my house and saw that I owned this she literally yelled "Finally someone else who owns it!" and she grabbed it from my movie shelf... it was so random but I went hysterical... cause i found her reaction so funny! :)
