Bah, try some home brew, it will make you feel better. :D

The king of beers? Ha, if you count using rice, and not grain like the rest of the sane beer making world, as it's primary source of fermentable sugar. I would assume it's mostly a figure head position with no real power or authority.

Eh, I prefer the English ales and stouts myself. I'm not so much of a lager fan (which is what I associate German brewing with, fairly or unfairly).

Rayne, perhaps you should have consulted an American before your purchase. We would've told you how awful it is.

Try some Sam Adams or maybe Amber Bock if you can get your hands on some. That's pretty decent American stuff.

Yep. I think Budweiser is purely ornamental, and not fit for human consumption. Home brew is the best, and only way to go.

Coors and Budweiser are German. So is Pabst. :|

Most of the good American beers are from smaller breweries. Sam Adams, Penn Brewing Company, Yeungling, etc.

No beer should have the word "Natty" in it.

Budweiser sucks.

Yes, yes it does. I still have 4 bottles of that s.o.b. to drink too.

Budweiser is piss.

Thanks champ :nice: I waivered on getting one of those instead of the Bud. Now I will not choose another.

It was a spur of the moment thing while we were at the bottleo. We started buying wine and then decided to get beer as well...something we hadnt tasted.

It's actually short for "Natural."

It's equally as tasteless as the stuff you had but with a higher alcohol content and comparable prices (here in America the stuff's cheap).

I live to fight the bad beers of the world!

Steinlager's not bad, that's a NZ import right?

Why does everyone bash Bud and Coors?

They're classics. :nice:

Nothing else out there tastes quite like Coors.

just like any steven seagal or chuck norris movie is, in its way, a "classic" too :p
As far as beer are concerned, the salvation of the american continent comes from canada, esp. Quebec .

How are they German? Because they are made in the US and certainly don't adhere to the Rheinheitsgebat... :hmm:

Their founders are German. I think they used to follow it way back in the days before the Depression. :hmm:

To my knowlegde, the only American beer certified Rheinheitsgebat is from Penn Brewing Company. If you know of any more let me know.

Steinlager is ok, but I prefer Speight's and Monteith's. Wonderful German and Belgian style beers.

Yummy!

Their founders may be german, but to my knowledge, I'm pretty sure Bud is a pilsner, and in which case its Czech.

Adhering to the Rheinheitsgebat isn't that difficult. It requires the use of only three ingredients. Malted barley, hops and water. (Yeast came afterward, because the law was put in place before they knew yeast existed.) Truth be told, there are some German breweries that no longer adhere to the Rheinheitsgebat anymore either.

Most American beers like Bud, Coors & Miller don't qualify because they use cheaper adjuncts, like rice or corn, to replace the more expensive malted barley. Also, a majority of microbreweries tend to adhere to a more belgian way of making beer, which is less restrictive in terms of adjuncts. When used to improve the beer, they add things like Belgian candi sugar, bitter orange peel, ground ginger. But when used to make the beer at a reduced cost, they can use things I listed above.
