Last week, we visited a local village to conduct a medical assistance visit and hand out gifts and humanitarian assistance items. There were lots of children present, and they were sure enthusiastic about the visit. They get downright aggressive when it comes to handing out the gifts. We provided things like vitamins, toothbrushes and toothpaste, mittens, hats, water, candy, Frisbees, soccer balls, pens and pencils, etc….

People over here absolutely love to have their pictures taken. They really enjoy being able to look at the screen on the digital camera to see how the picture turns out. Every time I turned around, there was a little kid pulling on my leg saying “Mister, take my picture!”

It would be really handy to have something like a battery powered photo printer, so I could print these out while we’re doing things like this and leave a picture with them. If anybody’s heard of such a thing, perhaps you could point me in the right direction.

Anyhow, here’s just a sampling of the pictures I took:

A lot of the kids had little drawings that they had made, and they were eager to show us.

The village elder got a little frustrated because all the kids were running like a mob over to the truck where we were handing things out – he gave a holler, and they all came to a screeching halt, causing the dust to rise.

Great shots - i applaud your efforts over there!

So how did the kids behave once they were yelled at by the village elder? What were you guys handing out besides water?

It was interesting to see all those kids dressed in cheap linnens, then the one kid with a 90's vintage colorado rockies jacket.

hey, maybe you should mail some of those pics in to the Times, USA today, or Washington post - it would be in the interest of presenting a fair idea of what's going on over there.

Gotta get em while they are young, good to see..

Pictures like those make me wish I was there helping them, it's so horrible to have to see children living in such conditions. When you see the kids over there, that haven't been brainwashed yet, you truly see that they are people just like us, reminds me of a video I wanted to post but can't find. I need to look for it and post it..
