A two-pound child was born in the back seat of a car early Monday with the help of the Detroit Police Department, Local 4 reported.

Officers reacted quickly when the father of the child came running into the 8th Precinct at about 2:30 a.m. to announce that his wife was in labor in a car parked outside.

"The father had come running in asking for help. He said that his wife was out in the vehicle and she was about (to give) birth," said Officer Stephen Boguslawski. "So then I ran out from behind the desk, ran out to the vehicle, I opened up her passenger door (and) she was laying in the back with the baby halfway out."

With the help of officers, Tianna Grant was born in the back seat of the car.

After her birth, police escorted the mother, father and child to Sinai Grace Hospital.
