I'm thinking about getting a phone with a keyboard on it and changing my plan up so I get more messaging features etc. Mainly because I have a Nextel from work now so I don't really need all the minutes on my personal phone :)

I have Cingular and we are going to switch to the family plan, I have a V400 now. With the way the sim cards work, I can always switch my sim back into my v400 right?

So, I'm looking at the Palm treoone 600 (I think) and the Blackberry 7290. I kinda want Bluetooth, but I like the Palm for the palmOS features. I see there's a new 650 coming out but it's over 500, but it has bluetooth.

Anyways, you guys with this type of phone, what do you have? Is blackberry worth it over the PalmOS phone?

I say go with the Treo 600. I LOVE mine. One thing with these guys, you NEED to charge it nightly, its hard to go through a 60-120 minute talk time day + lots of email without a charge every 36 hours or so. But if you do it nightly, you're 100% fine.

The blackberry is nice, but for texting, the keyboard is a bit weird, with 2 letters per key, not a 100% dedicated qwerty keyboard. It is the qwerty layout, but two letters per key. I don't have any direct experience with them.

If you have specific questions with the treo, let me know.

got any pics of it to show the size?

I'm assuming it does NOT have bluetooth, right? Do you have another type of wireless headset for it or do you even need one? As in, it's very phone like, ergonomically.

I doubt I'ld do 60-120 mins a day, I don't even do that a month

Who is your provider and how much extra for all the text and email features? I think I can get a messaging package for as low as 3 bux on cingular but a full on email and all is an extra 20 on top of your regular package, thus trying to get a family plan :)

Interesting tidbit- WUSB that releases this upcoming year will likely replace bluetooth. It's much faster- same speed as USB2- 480mb/s

Wonder how that will affect phones. I know it'll mean freeing up where your printer, scanner and such reside.
