View Full Version : Turn Your Back On Bush

The Bush administration has been successful at keeping protesters away from major events in the last few years by closing off areas around events and using questionable legal strategies to outlaw public dissent. We can use these obstacles to develop new tactics. On Inauguration day, we don't need banners, we don't need signs, we don't need puppets, we just need people.
We're calling on people to attend inauguration without protest signs, shirts or stickers. Once through security and at the procession, at a given signal, we'll all turn our backs on Bush's motorcade and continue through his speech and swearing in. A simple, clear and coherent message.
302Riz 11-23-2004, 08:39 AM I turned my back on him a long time ago.
Saison 11-23-2004, 08:50 AM They did that at one of the graduation speeches he gave. I think it was at Yale.
86Dude 11-23-2004, 09:49 AM Better yet, just flip him the bird.

I say turn our backs on him and moon the bast@rd w/ our azzes.
86Dude 11-23-2004, 10:21 AM Tacky, but appropriate. That would definitely get you jail time. The filthy cops would absolutely love to jump on that one.
themistocles 11-23-2004, 05:51 PM It's this patently absurd behavior which makes me suspicious that the left can provide any leadership ability to this nation at all.

What's so absurd about it? You do know that the BA is notorious for silencing opposing opinions don't you? What's more absurd? I'd say it is a great way to express your views directly to the president himself, it conveys a very clear message, one that even ole Bushy can comprehend (I hope).

Perhaps we should be more like the Roman emperors and just murder our opponets instead of mooning them. Would that give you a better view of us?

It's not as if that would be a novel sentiment among the left...
86Dude 11-24-2004, 01:47 PM What I don't understand is how any so called "real conservative" can even tolerate Bush's miserable existence.
Sparrow 11-24-2004, 01:48 PM Not all us us do, Dude.
86Dude 11-24-2004, 01:57 PM Well that is good news.

It's not just the "tolerating" part 86...it's the leech-like sycophants that defend the man to the death for even the most obvious, egregious things that I don't get.
I mean, he does have some redeeming qualities that might make him partially tolerable to real conservatives, such as tax cuts and somewhat conservative stances on certain social issues, but these are overshadowed by other, major stuff that pretty much never, ever, ever gets criticized by his most ardent supporters.
 Go figure...

That's because we are witnessing a phenomenon that has less to do w/ political persuasion and more to do w/ the mass psychology of true believerism.
Most of those who follow Bush are not persuaded by evidence (they are far beuond that point). To them is has become a matter of willed loyalty reniforced by a hatred of those they disagree w/ politically, a hatred which, of course, the neocons are all too happy to keep enflamed.
We have moved into the realm of the pathological on a massive scale. That's why the phrase "Jesusland" disturbs them. It speaks directly to their sickness.
86Dude 11-24-2004, 04:07 PM "True Believerism", LOL, is that an Anarkyism? I like it.

As far as protests go, I like this idea. Simple, to the point. It'll be interesting to see what the actual participation rate is.
While the mooning and bird flipping might be amusing to watch, I hope they can keep to the original plan. To me at least, it seems less juvenille and more difficult to dismiss.

yeah, it's well known among left-wing fringe groups who are upset because no one wants to listen to them.

I don't care.

I believe they are upset because they live in a country where they are told they have free speech, yet as it turns out, they don't.
