I remember when it ahppened in 1986..

The reports came in about radiation detectors running amok in Sweden for no apparent reason, and the source being pinpointed to somehwhere in Kiev, Ukraine (Link Courtesy The BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION) (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4028729.stm)

When first asked about it, the reply was: "There's nothing wrong HERE!!"

When the radiation WAS indeed confirmed as being from a site in the USSR, and queried FURTHER, the reply STILL was: "There is NOTHING wrong!" :hmm:

Finally, backed into a corner, and confronted with the TRUTH that COULD NOT be DENIED, the answer from the Reactor Personnel was: "Oh, we MIGHT possibly have a SMALL problem.."

And DOZENS, HUNDREDS (THOUSANDS??) of pregnant Swedish females were exposed to this, as well as the WATER for drinking, the SOIL for crops, and the VEGETABLES grown therein.. :(

They never, EVER 'fessed up to being TOTALLY accountable for the problem .. even TODAY, now DID they?

And I oft times WONDER.......IF any of the pals I used to know & hang out with in that part of Sweden were affected in any way...

And how MUCH damage has indeed been inflicted on that WONderful little fiefdom of the globe?

How MANY people have SUFFERED?....WILL suffer? ...

And WHAt is YET to COME?? :(

Not to mention the western goverment that after the nature and scope of the catastrophy was known would also say that there would be no consequence over such and such country, the radiative clouds having somehow not passed the borders ...

UNDERSTOOD, effendi....

But I've not any friends & former gal pals in FRANCE (Though THEIR situation SUCKS, too, of course..)...just SWEDEN..

(There IS also Finland, Ireland, Denmark, England, & Holland.....where I ALSO have friends/loved ones.....and who most likely may be experiencing maladies of THEIR own, as well..... :( )

nah, first post of mine was a joke ...
Situation's no joke, though , I'll grant you that .
Funny how any Gvt telling you that there's nothing wrong, or that everything is under control is a sure sign you should begin to panic immediatly ...

I was lookin' at this show on the cable TV called Chernobyl Heart (http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/chernobylheart/), and it said that the next Chernobyl will be Chernobyl. I couldn't believe it. I became confused and perplexed. How could this be? The Russian government did such a thorough job cleaning up the mess after the accident. The leak-proof sarcophagus they constructed over the reactor is incredibly sturdy and was built with great care and is constantly being checked and maintained to ensure it's structural integrity. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

They also said that The TITANIC was UNSINKABLE....

That The HINDENBURG would FLY FOREVER....

And WHO woulda EXPECTED the mishaps that befell The CHALLENGER & COLUMBIA Space Shuttles??

I wish that we ALL could be SURE about this gig...
