I have had jobs in the past, where there would be enough running, lifting, and such to get some or enough excersize in the day. Desk job now. Computer. Its cool, but other than cutting into free-time, there is no excersize.

I know a poll done here would be a bit biased. But, of the people you know, what percentage would you say get enough excersize at work?

There is an inverse ratio of exercise to pay. The more exercise you get at work, generally speaking the less pay you get.

Or to put it another way manual workers arent paid well.

I sit at a desk 8-10 hours a day. I get ZERO exercise while I work, unless you count walking down a flight of stairs five times a day to refill my water bottle.

I do ride my bike to work a couple times a week. 40 miles each way, takes me 2.5 hours each way. That's plenty of exercise. :) The bike has been put away until Springtime though. :(

I try to walk up to the cafe to get coffee, but I was working from home for 4 years until about a month ago. So, for a long time I got ZERO exercise. I get a lot of exercise car dancing...I got an hour's drive, and when the Dead comes on - Look Out!! :D

I work at an animal hospital and I am on my feet most of the day, plus there is a lot of lifting (often large) animals up and down onto tables, the x-ray machine, into the sink, etc. I get decent exercize but not really enough exercize

i'm mostly babysitting this semester for work. That can be exercising if i make it so, and if the weather permit. Man, have you guys tried playing freeze tag anytime recently? and the house i babysit at is 3 stories with the playroom up in the attic, so i tend to climb those stairs pretty often,....is trampolining exercise?

i occaisionally work at a video store. Working at a video store can involve some movement too, walking around and standing all day, lots of bending up and down, and carrying movies, *shrug*
maybe exercise for some.

Yeah, the first few months kicked my ass when I started but I got used to it after a while, driving is still handing me my arse though.

Hmm... I acclimated to it by that time if memory serves. I did the driver helper thing for like four or five years. This'll be my first time I'll actually be able to reverse the hierarchy.:D

During the week I am at a desk 10 hours a day, or if I am out of town working, I am sitting in a car, then to a desk..

On the weekend, I bartend and I am on my feet for about 9 hours junking beers at ppl.. call it exercise if you like.

I do go to aerobics during the week though.

I can't really say for other people, but I wish I had a pedometer at a job I worked in October, 8 hours of walking, running, or jumping, every night I'd completely sweat through everything I was wearing. I still have an inflammation in the tissue surrounding my achilles from over-use because of it.

I loved it too, felt great..

I have a desk job. I take an hour off to walk or hit the gym. The company gym has pretty much everything except for a pool. It's 20 bucks a month and great after work if you're totally stressed out. I leave pager and cell phone in my locker. It's bitten me in the butt a few times when someone calls for something, but I don't care. Lately I don't think I get enough exercise. I hike with the boys once in a while.

I used to get a decent amount of exercise way back in the day when I was working retail and was on my feet all day and had to haul stuff around etc etc

For over a decade now though I've had desk jobs - and my current job is the worst of the bunch - not only do I not get any excercise - it's a job where I'm tied to the phone all day so I can't even get up and walk around for a few minutes every hour or so if i feel the need.

Since starting the desk jobs I have gained about 60 lbs.

None. I get my exercise by walking my dog, and going to the hamster mill that is a gym.

Up & down stairs all day, walking back & forth, I'm on my feet all day, save a few moments here & there on the computer. Also there is some heavy lifting and packing supplies upstairs.

Way too oversimplified.

I work in construction (good amount of exercise) and get paid well over the average for my town. Sure, not as much as a doctor or lawyer, but a hellovalot more than general office workers, telemarketers, food service people and such... who all work at jobs with less exercise.
