Never had one, but I have seen them. It is amazing when you see it with your own eyes and compare them to bigger infants.

my wife was a preemie.
they had to put her in a crock pot and let her simmer for a couple weeks.

MY youngest was just 5 lbs 2 oz when born.

My niece was 11 weeks early, so she was right around 2 lbs. She needed a while in the baby-bake machine to get up and around, but now she's almost 9 and just a big sweetie.

My daughter was 10 weeks early & weighed 2 lbs 4 oz. 6 weeks in the NICU, 5 days on the respirator, countless transfusions, tube feedings for 4 weeks. They said if she had been born 10 years earlier, she probably wouldn't have survived, and if she had, she would've had severe problems.

She's 7 now, and aside from asthma, no permanent health issues. We were very, very fortunate.

My niece was also a preemie. 3 months early, 2 lbs. 14 oz. 3 months in the NICU, and she has severe asthma. She's 17 now.

My oldest son, now 21, was 6 weeks early and weighed 4 lbs. 11 oz. He was NICU for a couple weeks then went home. He doesn't have asthma, although he's always been more prone to bronchitis.
