For parents of older kids:

When they start asking what things you did as a teenager, what do you say???? Do you spill your wild stories, or do you cover it up???

I'm not sure what to say when the time comes. I think it'll be soon; my son is 10 :hmm: So I need input.

I think you should tell them. I'm not a parent, but I am 12 going on 13. My dad told me when he was younger he did crack a couple times. And who called the cops on him? His MOTHER. So, according to him, he will have no problem doing the same. So I'm definantly not doing that....(not that I would anyway).

That's a good point :) and I'm glad someone your age sees that side of reasoning, instead of the "Well you did it so you can't punish me for it" thinking.

That statement used to piss me off when my mother would say it to me.

Im now a parent of two boys....I tell them certain things on a need to know basis...but I have been constantly schooling them with 'what if' scenarios to show them the differences in your life outcome by choosing one way or another.

I have notice it has really sunk in......thus far. :)

If you can't be a good example, you can be a horrible warning!

I think it's best to be open. My mom was always open with me, and despite all her other mistakes, I respect her more for it.

I can't even be too open about my past with Eep,and I'm just a surrogate father...
