View Full Version : Congratulations and condolances
MartinPh 11-03-2004, 12:27 PM Congratulations to all americans at elections in which the actual winner won; congratulations to all Bush supporters at their succes in keeping him in the saddle. My sincerest condolances to all others and the world in general at the outcome of this marvellous democratic process. The barrage of oneliners, ad hominem arguments and sheer decibels worked their effect, as did the insistent scare tactics and the imponderable heaps of money. Bush got what he wanted: the triumph of fundamentalism and the single-track mind. I regret I'm not religious, otherwise I'd say, god help us.
RightWingZealot 11-03-2004, 12:29 PM Imponderable heaps of money?
Last I checked Kerry outspent Bush.

And this is why, regardless of who won the election, the left is a group of losers

Yes, I know the news is horrifying. Please don't blame all Americans.
The explanation is actually rather simple: for some time there has been a correlation between declining intelligence and academic test performances and the ascendancy of reactionary conservative politics, which is precisely why Republicans do their utmost to keep the public school system under-funded while ensuring that the elite private schools for their children will excel. They are breeding successive generations of dull subservient sheep to robotically slave for their seed.

****ing pathetic
Mr. Anarky 11-03-2004, 01:01 PM I'm so depressed, I don't know whether to cry or throw up...
I've been receiving e-mail from people all over the country who are utterly depressed. Frankly, I've been laboring under a cloud of depression ever since the USA invaded Iraq and I KNEW that Iraq had no WMD and had no terrorists ties w/ the USA.
I was completely flabbergasted when most of the dems went along w/ Bush on the war and the assessment because I knew it was wrong. I also knew that it would take a miracle for them to win this Prez election after supporting the war in the forst place. They lost their credibility for the 2004 election then.
So there is a lot to be depressed about and has been for some time. And the bad news is that it will only get worse from here. We can expect that a large number of the progressive achievements that the american fought for in the 20th century will either be eliminated or significantly scaled back (e.g. social security). Don't be surprised to see people, children mostly, start suffering malnutrition in the USA by the end of Bush's 2nd term. Many already skip a couple meals a week now, but it will get much worse now.

If Kerry had won I wouldn't have gloated, I would have posted something congratulating America and if Bush conceded as quickly as Kerry did I would have had kind words for Bush. I guess that post gets to wait 4 years more now.

Now you believe voters are not smart enough. Wonder whether you understand democracy.
I think Kerry only get this far with the following:
- claim mismanagement in missing explosives before facts.
- biased Iraqi civilian casualty estimates.

Mr. Anarky 11-03-2004, 01:49 PM Are you indicating opinion from people with less education have less value? You would prefer to remove their voting rights?
Nope. Nope.
I believe that there is a relationship between a lack of education and gullibility. That's all.

All this crying and preaching of doom and gloom. Let me just say I'm happy Bush won and you guys have provided a little dessert with all of your whining.
Can you see why Contra has gloated? It's been all those half-brained conspiracy theories we suffer through, all the lies that could never be substantiated, all the negative talk from the left. The Michael Moore's and those that support him. The hit pieces by cBS and Dan rather. The complete lack of faith in man in general and their gov.'t more specifically. You reap what you sow

Blah, blah, blah. The Germans voted in the Nazis too.
Bush is a failed president, and it goes to the sheer idiocy of the USA that it voted for him anyhow.
I didn't vote for Kerry. You need to adjust your critique.
Gandalf 11-03-2004, 01:59 PM Ah well its confirmed now, America is a Fundamentalist Right Wing Country. Great a Fundamentalist country out to attack other Fundamentalist Countries, on with the crusade!!!
The overall mood that I can gauge from talking to people and on discussion boards in Ireland is dismay at the fact that George Warmonger Bush is the choice. Kerry from my point of view did not come out and say what he stood for beyond he wasn't Bush which I think was his biggest fault.
Fed_Up_With_Politics 11-03-2004, 02:18 PM Those who graduated from college voted for Kerry on the whole. Those who graduated from high school or didn't graduate from it voted for Bush on the whole. It was announced on the news last night.
Anarky....where did you hear those results? Exit polls (dubious I know) posted to CNN show the following breakdown by eduacation...
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/US/P/00/epolls.0.html
VOTE BY EDUCATION.............BUSH........KERRY........NAD ER
..................TOTAL....2004 2000......2004.........2004
No High School.....(4%) ....49% +10....... 50%..........0%
H.S. Graduate.....(22%) ....52% .+3 .......47%..........0%
Some College......(32%) ....54% .+3 .......46%..........0%
College Graduate .(26%) ....52% .+1 .......46%..........1%
Postgrad Study ...(16%) ....44% .+0 .......55%..........1%
VOTE BY EDUCATION................BUSH........KERRY.......N ADER
.....................TOTAL....2004 2000......2004........2004
No College Degree ...(58%) ....53% n/a .......47%.........0%
College Graduate ....(42%) ....49% n/a .......49%.........1%
Based on these numbers it would appear that Kerry fared best with the least and the most educated, while Bush did better with the rest. A larger portion of postgrads went for Kerry, but Bush garnered a larger share of undergrads...thus a statistical tie among college graduates. The 2nd table is just summarizing the more detailed one. Kind of misleading that "No College Degree" includes those with some college under their belts.
I'd like to see other sources if you have them...just for my own curiousity. I know I heard a lot of stuff on the various newscasts last night that doesn't match with published results.

Lol, this grade-school playground mentality never ceases to bemuse me. Being a sore loser only applies to inconsequential contests such as sports competitions and the like. When real world issues are at stake, such as prospective war, the continuing rise of terrorism, massive deficit spending and debt, gross unemployment, ruination of the environment, and so on, people have every right to be upset about the results.
ThePrankMonkey 11-03-2004, 03:46 PM dont you have a ship to build to leave the planet?
Von Apfelstrudel 11-03-2004, 03:49 PM gloating ...
ThePrankMonkey 11-03-2004, 03:54 PM WTF cares at this point? i tried to give kertry credit for conceding the way he did and i stand by my comments! what he did took balls and dignity. i even told contra to not gloat but did it stop those who hate bush from spinning this downplaying it or calling everyone who voted for him idiots? no. bneither side is right to gloat or act like sore losers but god damn! its rather hard to not take it personally when all i've been hearing is "they're all idiots" "americans are stupid".
i've at least tried to point out those who were gloating and those who were sore losers. the losers attacked me without a hesitation, the gloaters, like contra, ignored me, now SYM saw my point and agreed we shouldnt gloat NOR should we act like sore losers. but my words fell on deaf ears on both sides. only one or two actually bothered to act respectful about it.
but i certainly didnt say if bush lost i'd leave the planet. what good is your word if you dont live up to it? thats not gloating, thats holding him to his word. i dont give a **** either way, if he does then he's kept his word, if he doesnt, then his word is for **** and he cant be believed.
Von Apfelstrudel 11-03-2004, 04:04 PM i even told contra to not gloat but did it stop those who hate bush from spinning this downplaying it or calling everyone who voted for him idiots?

well, maybe the subtleties of American internal/economical policies eludes us foreigners, but in our mind, especially responsive to its foreign ... err... policy ... , I guess the elections appeared as a no-brainer ...
SO , yes, for a lot of people around the world, (peeps that I guess don't know a Bush voter" _ ie even online_ , for I reckon some of them are intelligent, even cool guys ...) , most Americans today are Idiots ...

ThePrankMonkey 11-03-2004, 04:08 PM fine, then foreigners are idiots too. since you obviously dont know enough about our politics to fully form any kind of an educated opinion but have insisted on doing so anyway, non americans are idiots.

its not a ****ing game you know, sore loosers an dignified winners. who cares. your president has teh power over lives of people, the power to invade, and throw the world out of balance. seeing what he did the last 4 years, creating a global war, polarisation, lies.. how can you reelect such a peron? Out of a population of 270+ million people over 115 million or so voted... Thats hardly the majority of the people.
I think you are taking this win alittle to personally. So now that Bush is re-elected its up to us to speak out when we feel hes doing something wrong. It worked when he wanted to sign into law the amnesty for illegals last year. Enough people spoke out and nothing came of that legislation.
ThePrankMonkey 11-03-2004, 04:17 PM this ALL goes back to what i've been saying. we argue, they stay in control.

Ponycar_302 11-03-2004, 04:46 PM I dont see how that is better, that we dont care about eachother. do you?
Caring about each other is fine. What you propose is that your country should have a say in my country. Sorry, but I don't buy into the one world government philosophy like the majority of Europe seems to. I happen to like the fact that Bush has America as his first interest. It's about time America looked out for America. Undoubtedly a lot of people will disagree with me. That's fine. More people agree with me. :)

this is the reality, but a very poor excuse for a democracy. sort of like we have to choose some idiot, so lets just pick one, and then well see what happens. democracy is supposed to be a system in which you decide. if someone messes up, you send him off, and vote for a better one. if tehre are two who are both incompenent, then vote for a 3rd one. this concept doesnt seem to come through in the USA. god knows why.

you really think this election was different from the ones before it? think again.
democracy is supposed to be a system in which you decide.
we did, you didnt like the outcome, we cant help that.
someone messes up, you send him off, and vote for a better one.
not everyone thought he was doing that badly, again, we cant help that our votes didnt match your opinions, it happens.
if tehre are two who are both incompenent, then vote for a 3rd one.
some did, less than 400,000. most didnt. again....we cant help that this election didnt fit your opinion, and on a certain level, not our problem that you cant or wont accept that.
this concept doesnt seem to come through in the USA. god knows why.
again, it did, just not the way you think it should have. not everyone i have voted for made it the office they were running for. do i then get to say people are idiots for it or say the system failed me? maybe i'm just used to not having every thing go my way in life but i dont understand the EXTREME amount of anger and hostility here. i wasnt thilled when clinton had a second term but i didnt insult anyone for voting for the guy. not everything goes our way, not sure how else to say it. take a couple days away from this, the rest could do you good.

Oh please. They'd be rubbing our noses in it had Kerry won.
And they are acting like bitter, sore losers. To both their credit, Kerry and Bush both commented on trying to heal things. I was hoping that we'd see some of it but thus far I've seen no evidence of the leftists here even considering the thought, therefore, I'll respond appropriately.
CA is still calling him a fascist.
Spab is still calling him a retard.
Anarky is still calling everyone who voted for him dumb and uneducated.
Same old DA left.
THATS childish, not to mention factually wrong and I see you failed to point that out.
SpabSFW 11-03-2004, 08:45 PM Spab is still calling him a retard.
**actually that's "moron". ;)
Powerboss 11-04-2004, 01:28 AM Oh, forgive me. It was not my intention to misquote you. :p

[QUOTE=302Riz]
There plenty of 3rd parties out there but unfortuneately not enough people know about them.
QUOTE] thats the real problem. people keep on voting for these two parties, even when they dont like them, because its the only choice. im sure tehre were better independent conservative candidates then Bush.

I just dont trusht bush at all, and see him do many dangerous things in this next 4 years. it will influence my life too. kerry, well at least he hasnt the record of bush to fear. ity would have been a chance for improvement.

You mean like in that PM that you sent before I even commented on Bush' victory? Yes, I see what you mean. You're a real man of character.

You mean, like the healing Bush talked about after he became president in 2000? The healing he did so wonderfully achieve?? And by the way: I would interpret "healing" as finding some middle ground together - all you seem to want is for democrats to uncritically join in in your bush-adoration. But the very fundamental differences on many issues cannot be brushed away, they are there.
Its very hard not to be angry when a man with this amount of blatant falsehoods on his record gets elected. Apparently, people WANT to be deceived. I suppose christians have greater aptitude for believing in fairy tales. Kerry's main mistake has been that he took voters seriously. Treat them like children, and they'll be eating out of your hand.
That Bush supporters gloat doesn't surprise me - it's all part of their predatory world. Still, there is a postive side to all this too, as others have noted before me: bush gets to clean up his own mess, or, more likely, gets to wallow and drown in it.
bush idea of healing is that all his oponents join his followers in supporting him.
ja er valt een hoop lol te beleven hier... :)

Well said, hopefully his first term deceptions and failures come back to haunt him in his second, well I guess we can still hope..
