View Full Version : Tax Cut Passes In Landslide!
Powerboss 05-24-2001, 01:14 AM 62-38 was the vote count.
Thank you to the Democrats who had the "guts" to do the right thing.
Puff Daschle has got to be fuming!
And all week, the media was telling us how close it would be!!! LOL

Powerboss 05-24-2001, 01:41 AM Here's a great example of what kind of man is leading the Senate Democrats....Tom "Puff" Daschle.
A real classy guy.
How can ANYONE support this dong?
This is regarding Strom Thurmon.
It was getting late, ticking towards the bewitching hour, and it was said that Strom was drooping and nodding off. Joe Biden went over and said, "Look, either I'll go or we'll find a Democrat to go so you can let Strom Thurmond go home."
It was not a technique to give the Democrats a voting majority that night - it was simply a nice gesture. Tom "Puff" Daschle got wind of it, came over and said, "We're not going to do that. If he wants to leave, fine, but we're not sending anybody home."
This proves the mean-spiritedness of Daschle.

1993gt40 05-24-2001, 02:41 AM I could go on for days with dashelisms. Although, (you wont hear me say this about tax cuts very often) we got the F^in shaft on this one. We bent over and took it like I havent seen since the early days of the Clinton admin (not a dog on Clinton, but a dog on congress, just fyi for those who cant remember the 'budget deal'). I would expound, but I think people are tired of hearing things from the economists point of view.

BIG TIME!!!!! I have heard alot of predictions by alot of high ranking economists over the last decade, and surprisingly few of them have been accurate...
Maybe economists are really unemployed astrologers? http://discussanything.com/Ubb/biggrin.gif

Powerboss 05-24-2001, 04:31 PM Guys..it aint THAT bad.. I agree, there is much I would change in it if it were up to me but
look at it this way..it is much better than what we would've EVER gotten from the Democrats.

Turbostang 05-24-2001, 10:34 PM Wow! I EARNED the money... the government illegally appoints itself to take it away from me.
Then Bush/Congress decides that it is OK for them to give a little of it back to me when it is rightfully mine to begin with. Mighty white of him/them...
Oh, but I forget... look at all the good things I/we are getting for our money.
- Crumbling infrastructure. Roads, bridges, and highways in desparate need of repair.
- Finance wars and prop up dictators in countries I can't even locate on a map.
- Arrest kids and ruin their lives because they forgot a kitchen knife on the floor of their car while moving. Or how about the kids who get a MIP violation for simply being in the VICINITY of a party where alchohol is being served.
- Fly over people's houses looking at the IR signature to see if they are growing pot.
- Fill my kids mind with wierd ideas, send him home for wearing a Pepsi shirt on Coke day, and a 1 in 3 chance he will graduate illiterate.
- Rig elections
- Strips us of 7 of 10 Amendments in the Bill of Rights by waging a phony war on drugs/terrorism.
- Allows our appointed leader to commit several felonies on national TV, and lets him walk away scott free, while innocent protestors in Seattle are thrown in jail, burned in Waco, or shot in Ruby Ridge.
- Allows multinational corporations to imperialize the third world nations, kisses China's arse (and hands over the Panama Canal, sells them missile technology, all while giving the MFN status), and undermine our sovereignty as a nation while all the time lowering our standard of living.
- Bails out the multinationals every time the screw up... The salaries of some CEO's exceed that of some NATIONS. Meanwhile personal bankruptcies are at an all time high, personal savings are at an all time low, and real wages havent increased at all in nearly 30 years. Maybe that's why some people have to work THREE jobs just to make ends meet in this "great economy".
-The highest percentage of it's population in the WORLD compared to all other contries (including Russia and China) behind bars.
- Ranked as one of the lowest in the industrialized world in such things as quality of education and literacy.
- Causes divisions in our society based upon race, religeon, and/or political beliefs while promoting a sick and twisted agenda promoting perverse ideas (homosexual marriages), behavior (partial birth abortons), and communism all in the name of political correctness.
BUT HEYYY! I'm getting a TAX CUT!!!!!

You knwo what I DO NOT get. Mandatory union fees. That is bull**** at its highest level! And I still think it is BS with Social on the brink of bankruptcy that I HAVE to pay taxes into it.
By the time im 60 it wont' even be around, and i will LOVE my IRA.
Bill, you know what I do not get...everything is always 'the dems are trying to vote on party lines, rip washington asunder by their partisan politics. But then they vote for the 'republican' tax cut, and that is funny too? Can they honestly never win? I mean, they stood there ground for a reducded cut, and then they realized that a cut was needed/prduent, and fighting it would just be a waste of time.
I personally still do not agree with a tax cut when you look at programs that need more money (well a cut as large). But now I will just spark another supply side debate, so I digress.
