I was so pissed off last night. As though the rest of the world doesnt hate us enough as it is. We do we have all the damn showboats??? When I saw Maurice(I think that is his name) Green warming up with his tattoo stating Ali's old quote "I am the greatest of all time", something he publically said, I thought I hope this as*hole with his gold-colored shoe soles losses. Well, he wasn't racing this heat, he was doing the next. However, in this heat, there were 2 Americans. I thought to myself, wonderful, I hope they finish 1 and 2. About 5 yards before the finish line, they were in 1st and 2nd and looked at each other making gestures as though "this is too easy". Dammit they were just as bad! Why is this? Why do we have to shove any talents we have in the face of others? This is moments after I saw an emotional gold-medal winning performance and national anthem that put tears in the eyes of a few of our guys for the 8 man rowing competition.
BTW, Maurice Green only finished in 3rd in his heat, the winner being a Jamacian who won, smiled, and walked off.

What do you expect from black (American) atheletes? This kind of thing happens all the time in basketball, football....etc.

The coverage of certain athletes by the media is definitely biased. Maybe they behave in the unsportsmanlike fashion because it is encouraged to get attention so they will have a "brand identity." That way Nike and other companies will offer them million dollar contracts to promote their products.
The demographics of the winners like softball, soccer, swimming seem to be primarily whites, but they don't get giant pictures in the sports pages of the newspapers like the 100 yard dash guy got today. Could be that the newspapers are just celebrating diversity, but when they have giant pictures of Tiger Woods, only when he wins, it makes one wonder about whether the biased coverage could be the result of deals with sneaker manufacturers, clothing lines, advertising companies, and even Wheaties cereal, which they are free to engage in of course.
One would think that Madison Avenue advertising agencies would be pounding down the door of this blonde, Swedish chick's house who one the heptathlon, but most people have probably never heard of her. She was extremely gracious and sportsmanlike when she won the gold and invited all her fellow competitors to do a victory lap with her.

Carolina Kluft and Eunice Barber ...
Two great athletes .
Too bad Eunice was injured, she is the only serious contender to the wonderful Kluft :/
