Are the sports themselves interesting, and if so, why don't people watch them year round?

I saw a little of the Judo competition which is somewhat entertaining since the jockeying for position is similar to hockey fights. The females were pretty fiesty. But overall, it is pretty boring. I read that one of the Willaims sisters grunts echoed through the empty stands at one of her tennis matches, so the specators are hanging out at the beach volleyball area I guess.

i find myself watching beach vollyball, which i never watched before, but if that happened to be on year-round tv, i'm sure i'd watch some volleyball too.
(not that i'm a big sports watcher. . .)

Well for one thing, many sports in the Olympics are popular year round. Basketball for instance is a popular sport, as is soccor, Tennis and Baseball.

Some sports I really find interesting which are only seen in the Olympics. For instance, Track and Field is rarely shown outside of the Olympics. But I still love to see it since I participated in this when I was in high school.

i really like the swimming and gymastics. i'd watch them more throughout the year if they were more readily available to me....it's so much easier to turn on nbc during prime time and see exactly what i'm interested in than having to search through tv guides for the espn schedule and then discovering that the sports i want to watch are on during the day when i'm at school or work, or in the middle of the night when i'm sleeping because prime time espn is usually dedicated to baseball, basketball, or football. it's a cruel cruel world
