Did anyone else see this documentary? I thought it was totally amazing. In India, traditional Doctors of Medicine have been using ancient cures for various illnesses, ranging from bone deformations to cancer.

One of the most amazing testimonies was that of a man who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Chemotherapy, radiation and modern medicine failed him. Turning to a traditional healer he has now had a 100% recovery 14 years after his diagnosis.

I would add something else I learned in this film.

Most illnesses that kill people in modern society are diseases of excess, obeasity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure... all from poor diets, lack of exercise, stress due to work. In the modern world we have created a society where individuals are wired. We live surrounded by technology. We no longer leave our calls at work. Now we have cell phones. Now we have notebook computers. Now we take our work home with us. We eat foods that kill us instead of those that heal us.

Ayurveda is all about living life in ballance. Its about health before illness. Like other forms of eastern medicine its about turning to nature to find the cures. Its about preventing illness before they strike. Ayurveda follows health cures which are hundreds of years old. It incorporates massage, herbs applied orally or topically. It involves prayer and meditation. It involves such therapy as laughing. The Indian gurus who developed these techniques knew about the importance of a ballanced diet long before it became a fad.

Western medicine does not have all the answers. We do not know what causes cancer. We still do not. Yet there are proven cases where Ayurvedic medicine has proven to cure illnesses that conventional medicine could not.

The arrogance of western medicine is that when doctors came and saw the old ways of treating illnesses they dismissed it and called it superstition. It was ridiculous to them that you could prevent illness through meditation or diet. The old ways were laughed at.

Now society has come full circle. We now see evidence that health is an ongoing process that begins at birth.
