Question, why is it that themedia was all over the Matthew Sheppard story, but, moreor less ignored this one?

For those that do not know, two gay men kidnapped, drugged, duct-taped and molested (with numerous object) and 13 year old boy that had worked for them. The autopsy report stated he died of positional asphyxia, he was so drugged he could even move to get his breath (he if the duct-tape would have allowed him to).

The ONLY place I saw this story in any prominance was on FOXNEWS.com. Why? Yeah, the Matthew Sheppard story was sad and all over the media. Where was the coverage for this story?

Just to give credit where credit's due, WorldNetDaily.com was all over this one from the day it happened.

That is a perfect example of media bias.

Why is that even newsworthy? Stuff like that everyday. I know of lots of girls that were raped. I knew to rapist. AND I knew a guy who was abducted from a bus stop at night by a bunch of big football players from a local university and gang raped in the 80s. It didnt even make the local newspaper. Supposedly the football players were straight but it was a hatefull hazing type challenge. Rape is rape and rape is all to common. If the national media jumped on every rape case, the 6:00 new would have to be 3 hrs long EVERY night.

The fact that he was raped and DIED, and he was 13 years old. Just because you seem to have become desensitized and turn away from these issues doesn't mean the rest of the country should.

My point was the media jumped all over the Matthew Sheppard case (gay man killed by a couple of straight guys) and ignored this.

Not just that, Powerboss. Bias comes from all angles. Let's call it what it really is: Selective Reporting. That story doesn't fit the agenda of the dominant media, save FOX and a few other online and magazine sources. All reporting, or lack thereof, reflects the attitudes, beliefs, and agendas of those who OWN and RUN it. I think that's pretty clear.

One is considered discrimination, one is just random child molestation...one is part of a trend, one is just a random incident by a couple disturbed individuals. That kid wasn't picked because he was gay, or a racial minority, or whatever. Matthew Sheppard was killed because he was gay...personally, I think that's the case that deserves more media coverage. It's more worthwhile, in my opinion, to try to get rid of prejudice than it is to say 'Ok, all you sick crazy people out there...stop being crazy, ok?' (Oh, and just so you know...you can breathe with duct tape over your mouth. Check out any bondage site if you don't believe me.)
