View Full Version : Ever been to a Chiropractor?
When I worked at UPS I went twice and both times it worked like a miracle. I didn't believe it would at first but the union covered the cost so I went.
Is chiropractics considered alternative medicine?
I am not neccessarily sure of Chiropractics is considered alternative (as there are 'medical' reasons to go to one) but in the same vein, massage therapy is probably a 'alternative' medicine.
My sister runs a massage place, and it is pretty amazing the profound effect she can have on some people.

If it wasn't for my chiropractor I don't know where I'd be right now, I have a bad lower back, and a little over a year ago I could hardly walk, I was in horrible pain, my chiropractor got rid of my pain completely.
Snouter 06-29-2004, 01:57 AM I had a disappointing experience at a one chiropractor and never returned. I try to keep pretty loose and generally twist around everyday and realign my own back to a certain degree. My father went to one a year or so ago for a shoulder issue and it seemed to help.
The message places where broads and metrosexuals get their nails done can be pretty good though. I was visiting a friend and a woman from the oriental nail and message joint next door came in and basically dragged me over. She gave me a sample and she had firm hands and good techique. It was a bait and switch though because when I was positioned face down in the message chair, some beginner chick took over. It wasn't bad, but a dollar a minute was a little steep. The towel heated in the microwave that she placed on the back of the neck felt pretty good.
jadatrack 06-29-2004, 02:08 AM i like going to a chiropractor. i no longer feel pain when i stand up straight....i still slouch, but at least now when i attempt not to it doens't hurt. now it's just habit.
i get massages sometimes too because i have incredibly tight muscles in my shoulders, especially on my right side. it's better now that school is over, but still begins to hurt if i get really stressed. i go to a massage school, only $16 for an hour massage.

And actually, Manu, massage therapy is rapidly being included in modern medicine and is likely to be billable to most insurance companies (in certain circumstances) within this year or next.
FallenAngel 06-29-2004, 08:36 AM Never been to a chiropractor but I've been to a massage therapist a couple of times. I've had good experiences and bad experiences. The most recent one I've been to is wonderful. I don't have pain in my shoulders anymore. I went to one guy where I walked out in more pain than when I walked in, and had bruises all over my back.
eeper69 06-29-2004, 12:13 PM I've been to both chiropractors and massage therapists. The massage guy was the best, but the chiropractor helped me the most.
igofast 06-29-2004, 01:02 PM I've been, if you find a good one, they can make you feel fantastic.

do you do yoga too? I found that doing yoga made my back pain disappear, it didnt happen immediately, but after a couple months of doing yoga i just noticed that my back never hurt anymore, and it might've been partly because of the twisting, but also because of the strengthening of the muscles. (ab and back strengthening, and of course posture fixing.)
I went to a massage therapist, and she even remarked on how loose and untense my shoulders and back were, ...definitely from the yoga.
hey manu, (i should start a new thread or something.) How common is yoga, hatha yoga, in india? I mean it isnt faddish like it might seem here, right? do many ppl people do yoga in india? men and women?
Tally 07-07-2004, 02:58 PM I've never been to a chiropractor but every night I stretch and crack my back on each side before I go to bed, it's such a release and feels fantastic. If I began to have back problems a chiropractor would be the first person I go to.
