Has anyone done acupuncture/pressure before? Any success or horror stories?

I have personally heard both good and bad about it, but the concept makes sense.

Nerves connect various portions of the bodies and by stimulating one such nerve in a given way, the course of an ailment may be altered/changed/funneled.

What do you believe?

I belive it's legit. It's also a givin' that it varies from practitioner to practitioner.

There is a Chinese way I guess is how to decribe it, since it can be applied to any fighting form. It's called Dim Mak, ever heard of it? Translates to death touch. I know that it is real. You can cause death, paralysis, liver disease, delayed death, all sorts of nasty stuff. If you can destroy you must be able to heal right?

If you go to an acupuncure place go for the right reason, I think it's a state of mind too. When you meet the guy/girl ask all the questions you can ask. Do you know dim mak points? What kind of system do you use? Research it too.

I've never had acupuncture nor do I pretend to know dim mak, but I do have weird things happen to me. Make a spock V with your hand the Vulcan deal. Now imagine your hand seperating down that V like it's being pulled apart, through your wrist and now separating your radious and ulna (arm bones) I had a dream that happened to me! HAHA got you all worked up over a dream. But hey what can a few weird needles do you? Americans eat rusty nails and never bleed! You'll handle it.

a few years ago I had tennis elbow.

can we say painful?!!!

I couldn't do simple movements like pump my hairspray bottle

got physical therapy : ice packs, heat treatments, electric pulse treatment (not sure correct name), massage and acupuncture. strangely I enjoyed the acupuncture. didn't really hurt going into me....but did feel weird and kind of numbing after awhile.

did it work? I dunno. after my treatments (an hour of all the above ) I felt better but my tennis elbow never went away until I had a cortisone shot months later.

would I try acupuncture again?

you bet!!!

Good points and experiences.

Also, clearly people use 'pressure points' in various things, is that not the same as acupuncture, essentially?
