Name your weirdest, lamest, wussiest, off-the-wall hobby. Anything...(given that it adheres to the rules of this forum).

For example, mine is collecting 18th and 19th century ceramic and ironstone plates and dishware, specifically Blue Willow pattern.

I know....pretty lame.

I had a bullet collection once..starting a new one with this WWII 30 Cal. round I fished out of the Bay a few years ago.

I figure its safer than collecting guns:D

When I was a really little girl I would take colored foil, like from easter candy, and unwrap it very carefully so it had no tears and flatten it out and keep it in piles in a drawer. I have no idea why.

I like to play wordgames in my head. Its really weird, but I've been doing it for like 6 r 7 years, and by now, I've gone through all of the combinations in my head so many times I've memorized them all. the basic rules of the mindgame are as such. When's someone's talking, you pick apart their sentences. So if I say, "Hey, how's it going?" I assign a point value to everything. There are various way of playing, but the most basic way is to just give each letter one point. So, then you match each 3-letter section of that sentence and see how many words you can make out of it, or phrases that incorporate only those 3 words. So therefore, with my example sentence, there'd be-

hey
hye (as in a hye-roll)
eh, y
eye, eh
yeh (slang of yeah)

who
how
oh, www
w12, oh
how, oh

'tis
sit
its
is t
ts-i (eagle talon)
sti (subaru WRX 22b sti)

I go
og I
goo I
Gio (a friend's name)

Ng (friend's last name)

Top that for weird hobbies. Sometimes I'll be mouthing the words out and moving my lips, and my friend will be all like, "what the hell are you saying?" I've tried to stop myself from doing it, but it just doesn't work. Its a really subconscious thing now, but I do it like at least a 100 times a day.

After reading this I don't think any of my "hobbies" are even remotely weird. Sounds mildly OCD-ish.

Weirdest one in memory is similar to Krawdaddy's comic one. I used to tape tv shows. By that I mean set up an audio tape recorder next to the TV and record the dialog. Long before family had a VCR. Never really listened to them, it was mostly just the thought of preserving something.

Also enjoy blowing spit bubbles off my tongue.

Oh yes...theres nothing quite like a telnet multiplayer game...

For whatever reason, it was a time consumer, but it is something I don't think I can ever find interest in again.

As for other crapass games, I forget the name...you have little plastic models, real expensive...someone here should know what im talking about. I met a guy at school who enjoys it...I can enjoy things, but not at that kinda cost for a little game.

When I was about 15, I and some friends came across a chemistry book, that showed how to put together a simple lab, using such things as old light bulbs for test tubes. Well, we purified some hydrogen peroxide using same, because we found out that when mixed with another chemical, one got a substance that was almost as shock sensitive as nitro glycerine, and as violently explosive.

Since I'm still here, you can all assume our experiments met with failure.....for the most part. There was the rare fire, and exploding light bulb test tubes. But it was rather fun at the time.

I used to do stuff like that with sow bugs (I used to call them rollie pollies). I'd collect them and give them food and water. The only difference is that I'd keep them in the garage.

What else can you people through into the mix?

Here's one, I'm not sure if it's a habit or a hobbie, though:

I wash all my dishes based on size, location, and what letter they begin with (e.g. c=cups (small), d=dish (small), d=dish (large), etc.) I find it to be a therapeutic hobby after a long day at work.

Well, I come home and read my tarot cards almost everyday. I used to be determined to prove them wrong, so I'd ask the same question over and over. I always got the same answer though, so now I believe them.

That is pretty trippy. I've always had an aversion to porcelain dolls. There was a show TV show called Friday the 13th and a porcelain doll killed people. I don't know, just a childhood (twisted as it may be) fear.

I had a friend whose sister collected those clowns with the porcelain face...only she was damn scared of them...so every night before she went to bed she would kiss each and every one of them (there were like 30 bazillion of the creepy suckers) because she thought that if she didn't they would kill her while she slept. (and she was around 16 years old)

So then, one April fools my friend and I went into her room and placed all them creepy clowns at the base of the bed or..door or something and wrote "KLOWN" with one of them blood capsules. It freaked the hell out of her. hehehe...I laughed.

weirdest hobby.
well i read so many romance novels, i kinda collect them.
a collection of romance novels sounds strange to me.

this isnt exactley a hobby, but it's kinda strange. I have pretty long, very curly (think of that afro headed spice girl) hair,.. and when i'm in the shower the hair gets tangled in my fingers... so to check how long my hair has gotten, i put the hair on the wall, stretch it out so it's not curling, and see how long it is. Then i get kinda bored, and try to draw a picture with that one long hair, like a house and a tree or some kind of squiggle...

(and that word game, i wasnt thinking OCD, i was thinking autism actually....oh but you are asian, that explains it or something. ;) )

something along the lines of what resident rice said.. when i'm watching tv, i always trace the edge of the button down shirt, or blazer that the character is watching, like i'm drawing it in my head, and superimposing it onto the characters's shirt. like start down at one wrist and draw a circle and go up the arm for a sleeve then around the color and down the front of the shirt, and then around the back for the back of the shirt, back to the front up to the collar again...oh i forget, i guess i need to see a shirt on tv to picture it. but i try to trace the whole outline of the shirt with like one line. *shrug*
