Do you have any emergency cash stashed away at home?
For when power goes out in the city and atms/credit card machines are down.

Recent storms knocked out power to many places and stores that were open put up signs for cash only.

Of course. Would you like the floorplan of my hiding places?

Yeah, I have a safe that has a few hundred in cash in it. Cripes, I don't even remember how much - I haven't opened the thing in a couple of years. :p

Yeah ... I always keep 100-120 stashed in my wallet (in adition to any other cash.... usually not less then 60) .... and I've got over 500 in my room.

Nope, not I.
Seems I have fallen right into the plastic society trap.
Most days lucky to have any $ notes at all.

It's all plastic .. plastic .. plastic!

Yes...not sure how much I have stashed away but when I find money in my pockets when I do laundry I just shove it in my tea kettle.

Last time I counted I had over $100 in there.

6 grand?? wow... that's an awful lot to keep at home... you could be earning interest on that in a savings account somewhere...

I keep tens of thousands of dollars... in my... parents savings, that I'm sure I could use in case of an emergency. :]

That's a pretty bold amount to leave lying around. How about posting your address here too? Oh go on you can trust us. J/K

not really. I usually take out my OT pay and put it away to buy myself something. I guess that could be my emergency cash

It'll be gone soon :)

Might I suggest a safe deposit box in a bank?

I have money in the bank....this is my emergency fund at home so either of my grown sons can get to it in case I need to use it. My dad used to keep $10,000.00 hidden at home for just the same thing. ;)

Banks aren't open in the middle of the night, nor on holidays. One never knows when stuff will go down and the money might be needed. :eek3:

Well at least get a fire proof safe or something. That'd be a shame to have $6k go up in smoke.
