My pretty good friend just told me his mom isn't expected to live 24 hours. :(

She's been battling cancer for a couple years now and the doctors even thought she had beaten it, but it came back about 6 months ago. On wednesday she went to the hospital with pneumonia and today they told her she probably won't live through the weekend.

: double sad :

Well she survived for a couple more months after I made this thread, she passed away this weekend. I'm leaving for the funeral in about 5 minutes...

RIP Valerie....

Valerie Adele Gruzen

Gruzen, Valerie Adele March 12, 1949 - May 16, 2004
A caring, warm and supporting wife and mother, whose dedication to her family brought her so much joy, happiness, and fulfillment. She is survived by her children, Eric, Ryan, Brandon; daughter-in-law, Lynn; brothers, Dale and Robert Landrum. A Los Angeles native she attended Van Nuys High School, Los Angeles Valley College, and graduated from San Jose State University in 1973. While her children attended Santa Monica Public Schools she volunteered in classrooms and the PTA. Valerie loved customs and traditions and was able to bring them to life from Jewish holidays to birthdays. Her Thanksgiving dinner, where from decorations to desserts, became an event born out of her love for the family and friends who attended. Valerie was artistic, creative, and loved to write. She sent cards and notes to family and friends that became keepsakes in that they were written in her beautiful penmanship, almost poetic, yet incisive, loving and supportive. Valerie developed life bonds with her friends whose support during her illness, with cancer, was incredible and will forever carry her memory. Valerie will be an eternal light for her family who cherished everyday of her life. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Valerie A Gruzen Charitable Foundation, c/o Ronald Gruzen, 6500 Wilshire Blvd., 17th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90048. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries- Hollywood Hills (800)600-0076.

:( My condolences.
Thanks, the service was really a very nice one, tons of people showed up and her friends and family did a great job showing how much they loved her and how special she was. She was one of the kindest women I've ever met.
