WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry accused the Bush administration Saturday of failing to adequately prepare and equip U.S. forces for the war in Iraq.

Kerry, giving the Democrats' weekly radio address, said President Bush had misplaced priorities in Iraq, spending billions of dollars on contracts to Halliburton Co. but not providing troops enough body armor and other protective equipment.

The Massachusetts senator said helicopters were flying dangerous missions without top-notch anti-missile systems, National Guard units were getting donated steel from local businesses to put homemade steel armor on their vehicles, and families were buying body armor for their sons and daughters.

Oh, that is funny.

Didn't Kerry vote against that 87 billion, most of it going to the troops?

Hasn't Kerry voted against most of the weapons and weapon systems that are currently in use today?

This doesn't pass the laugh test.

Most of that $87 billion did not go to the troops. If you like I can post some numbers on where it did go.

Post away.

I was told that approx 60 + billion went for equipment and stuff like that while 20 or so went for "rebuilding" projects.

"The bill completed yesterday includes $64.7bn for US military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. The money includes everything from salaries owed reservists called to active duty to buying aircraft parts, missiles and thousands of extra sets of body armour for ground troops. "

This subject was hit a long time ago. We already know that it's a manufacturing issue. Since then, thousands of troops have gotten the body armour. Case closed folks.
