what woluld be in theory the minimum number of states a person would need to win to have majority of the electoral college's votes andf therefore win the election

and what are these states that would make up the requirements for a kminimum number of states

Hard to say the exact number but the number has to be at least 270 to win.

California has 54 electoral votes so if you got New York, Texas, Florida, and a few others you are probably getting close.

Algore's situation was similar to this. Bush carried a large majority of the states overall but some of the ones Algore won were large vote states like Ca and NY.

The dems tried to bribe a couple electoral voters in 2000, (their thinking, it would seem, appeared to be that if it worked for Jumpin' Jeffords in the Senate, it should work anywhere).

LOL. Thats right. I remember that. Bob Bechel, DNC operative, was harrassing the electors and claiming to dig up dirt on them if they did not switch their vote to Algore.
