View Full Version : Would Edwards have been the better candidate?

I say yes. He's younger and better-looking, and that's all that matters nowadays. How you come across on TV is the #1 factor that decides our elections nowadays. Witness how Bush was able to turn his speech impediment and dim-wittedness into an asset by making it seem he was a regular Texas good ol' boy (even though he was actually raised a millionaire's son and a Yale-educated cheerleader). That's why he still pronounces nuclear as "noo-kyoo-lar", to show that politics can't change him from his humble American roots. He's still one of us!

Oh, but I was discussing John Edwards. That's right. Yeah, on the other hand, since I don't have cable I have not really seen Edwards speak or interact on TV. I've heard he's not the most articulate fellow....in other words he has no slick-willie type oratorical gifts to make up for the air of inexperience that comes with his youth.

In any case it's hard to see how he could be seen as less electable than the other clowns who have been called "front-runners" like Kerry or Dean.

... He's a democrat. "Better" is a word that does not fit!

Edwards is pro death penalty. This alone makes him unpalatable to me. Kerry only supports capital punishment for treason. It sucks but I do fine Kerry to be the lessor of two evils.

DHM...

Yes, he would be a much more formidable candidate than Kerry.

1) He does not have a Jane Fonda past like Kerry
2) He does not have the extensive, extreme, anti military anti intelligence, pro raising taxes, extreme left wing voting record that Kerry has. (The R's are going to make minced meat of him with his voting record.)
3) He's a likeable guy, unlike Kerry. Kerry just looks angry bitter.
4) Edwards is positive for the most part, even though he's wrong on most everything. Kerry is the most negative politician I think I've seen in a long, long time.

Thats enough for now.

Really? Look at some recent Presidents.

Reagan was likeable, Clinton was likeable, Bush Jr is likeable.
Their political foes have said so.

The American people want a President they like.

Its a huge issue.

I meant who would be more electable, not the actual "better" candidate....who looks better on TV, who comes across as more likable, etc. those are the things that get people elected these days. Of course I wouldn't vote for Kerry or edwrads, that's not what I meant.

Powerboss pretty much summarized what I was saying and confirmed it.

He'll probably be Kerry's VP choice.

These debates now are just for show and another opportunity to attack Bush.

Reagan was likeable, Clinton was likeable, Bush Jr is likeable.

Ha! Ronald Reagan's own CHILDREN didn't like him. His daughter wrote a book about how she was abused by him and his bitch wife Nancy. Richard Nixon taped himself with others talking about Reagan being "unpleasant". Clinton was called "demanding and cold" by people close to him and meetings with Bush are like "a blind man in a room of deaf people" (quote from former Secretary of Treasury Paul O'Neill).

Politicians are ACTORS. Their real world personalities are not what the public sees.

Ha! Ask Democrats who had to deal with him.
The guy won 49 states, he was very likeable.

Also, get up to date and read what his daughter is saying about him now, looking back on things.

Bitch wife? Wow. You are a hateful little thing aren't you?

i really personally liked Edwards, he seemed a good guy. plus he was very charismatic and a great public speaker. Kerry to me, seems very boring and plus Kerry is friends with Ted kennedy which is a big no no

i hoped edwards would get in.

of course, if edwards decide to quit politics and doesn't want to become a trial lawyer he could be on one of those shopping channels selling things :D jk
