well a bit of good news.

In order to get my kit together for jousting and fighting I decided to start making my chainmail shirt.

I have put about $50 into it so far and about 6 hours worth of work.

I bought 5lbs of stainless steel 16ga 5/16 precut rings. After they were delivered I spent about 2 hours or so opening some of the rings more and closing the others, I got about 1-2 lbs opened and/or closed.

I then sat down and started the basic 1-4 european weave.

As of now I have a sheet of chainmail about 1 foot wide and 1 1/2 long.

Wow this will take some time and alot more rings. I figured I am going to need about 30-35 lbs of rings. I plan on doing some highlights with nickle silver rings, around the collar and edges of the shirt.

looks pretty good. I have alot more to go before it looks like a shirt though.

Well it could be used for bondage....but if you like 'outfits' chainmail tops are pretty hot ;)

ewww...that would end up being more welding material then paperclip....that is if you were to make it solid and not some paperclip filigree thing.
