I have always been perplexed by this foolish need to use “Special Interests” as a boogy man.

Please, DO show me one administration, one presidency, one era... HECK just one DAY... when the USA was not run by “Special Interests”? Go on. try it.

Ever read the Federalist Papers? It is replete with the discussion of special interests and their place at the table of American Constitutional government. Every single industry is a “Special Interest”. Every voting block is a “Special Interest”. Every STATE is a “Special Interest”!

Our nation is BUILT to run on “Special Interests”.

To pretend otherwise is misleading the American people into imagining that “Special Interests” are somehow anti-American.

When the government is too busy performing sexual favors for "special interets", they lose focus of what's important, they don't do their job, and things like 9-11 happen because they either have more to gain by letting it or are too blind to see it coming.

The founding fathers did not want this country to one day be ruled by a elite cabal, you do, they didn't..

The founders are currently turning over in their graves over how powerful this Federal government is. The special interests only have as much power as they do BECAUSE government has even MORE!

Government has taken on so much power it does not rightfully deserve that the special interests are FORCED to spend themselves silly to get the favored treatment from government, a government that has the power (illegally as far as the founder were concerned) to destroy their business through intense regulation and spurious lawmaking.

Basically it is people like YOU who CAUSE the special interests to get so involved with government officials because you want government to get even more involved in the day to day life of every citizen.

Compared to the enormous amounts of money these special interests have, what they spend on lobbying is a drop in the bucket, but far more than the average citizen can donate.

You talk as if the government is hostile to business interests, this shows you have no clue what you are talking about, the government is in bed with big business in this country. CEO's go from working for a fortune 500 company to working for the White house, and then back into the business world.
