Why, in American society, is it so goddamn hard to fire a person without having them sue you? Where along the line did it become okay to shirk personal responsibility in favour of an arrogant, litigious congestion of the court system?
It can't be because people really like their jobs, because all most people do is complain about them.
"I hate my job, the boss sucks, the pay sucks, the benefits suck, I can barely afford the gas for my car to get me here..."
"You're fired."
"You can't fire me! I'm suing for wrongful termination! I'll see you in court, you *******!"
I mean, seriously folks, what the hell is wrong with this?

The exact date is hard to pinpoint, but it was somewhere in the late 60's. ;)

people are sue happy, but the idea behind wrongful termination isn't bad for society or anything, like a women being fired because she won't sleep with the boss should be able to sue for wrongful termination. if people would only sue when appropriate, there wouldn't be any problem

An employee can sue but its hard for them to win.
But I would have to say I do know quite a few employers that deserve to be sued. The way bosses treat working folks it does not surprise me. I wish more people would sue their bosses. Teach those bastards a lesson.
In days of old people had Unions and they could turn to their union leaders to help them out. Today the unions have been forced out and the only recourse that some folks have is to get a lawyer and take action.

I thought wrongful termination was being hung for something you didn't do.
