Do you think that the holidays have lost their meaning? Are they too commercialized? Has any significance left them in way for commerce?
Did they ever have a strong significance?
I think for most people, they have forgotten the true meaning of christmas and other holidays. it's really a pity.
i blame coca cola as they gave us the impression of snata that is alive today.
saying this, i am guilty of participating in the commercialisation of christmas

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, yes.
Espeically on TV, you see A Cat in the Hat whoring out christmas ornaments for Burger King...
Those Toys R Us commercials showing parents flipping out when they get the last "hottest gift" in the store.
There is just too much to list.

This is really obvious. Of course. Kids think Christmas and they think Hotwheels, Barbies, and candy. Adults are subject to this too though. Holidays have lost their meaning. :( I know, it's sad.

When little kids go to religious services the week before Christmas and pray to Santa, saying they've been good boys and girls, and will he please bring them ponies, the world is seriously ****ed up.
I don't celebrate any holidays beyond the social venue of it (seeing family, good food, good drink, good company, etc.), so I try to be as little of a corporate wh*re as possible.

Christmas is what you let it be. Since I neither watch TV nor receive many presents nor buy gifts for others for the sake of buying them, mine isn't.
Christmas has become 99% consumerism, 1% birth of Jesus. :hmm:
I think South Park made a good point in a christmas special inwhich the boys & santa goi to Baghdad to save Jsus. Jesus ends up saving Santa's life and then when Santa returns to South Park he declareas that this day should be remembered for what jesus did saving his life
it wasfunny

I agree. Plus, how many would whine if there was no mention of the holiday at all?

Everyone else notice how many empty boxes, mass amounts of wapping paper and christmas trees were ALREADY out by the curb today?
