the tree is a pagan symbol. jesus kicked a lot of pagan ass and apparently santa is an asatruar.

yea johnson is right st nicolas is the name and he came from Turkey.question remains,why is that combined with the birth of christ?I allways notice in american movies,that your chrismas is way more about santaclaus then about jesus.in my country we celebrate st niclolas at dec. 5th,one day before his birthday.our santaclaus lives in spain,not on the northpole,and comes with a boat(the arrival is a big event)I guess both stories are equally weird..

I myself dont believe in the ghost of xmas future.but if I did,he's tell me to knock it off.

Buffet style cold cuts, some hot appetizer-type stuff, and all the goodies that I baked in the last couple of days! YUMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!(tomorrow's dinner will be lasagna, garlic bread sticks, and a nice Chianti to go with it. )

it was decided that to pay respects for jesus, offerings should be left under a tree in the forest every christmas. people began to get confused about which tree it was, so they started adding decorations. then one year when they went to leave the offerings under the tree, they noticed a bunch of gifts, mostly for children, signed "from santa"

see, god felt that they didn't need to leave offerings anymore, so under the false identity called "santa" he began to leave gifts for all the sweet little children. as an attempt to get more gifts for their children, parents began to get trees that looked a lot like that special tree in the forest and decorate it. god/santa wasn't really fooled, but he's been in a giving mood ever since that whole ark and rain incident, so he though "what the heck, i'll give them all gifts. they are celebrating my son's birth and all"

so there you go, that's the story of the christmas tree :)
