Is one of the best UBB posters on the internet I've yet encountered after 4 years of this. He always asks penetrating questions, demands evidence, scrutinises his own perspective for bias or inaccuracy and is above all consistently pertinent and relevant in his observations. I don't always agree with what he says, but it's always a pleasure to read. I find that if people ignore him, it's usually because they have nothing to say in response. ;)

Coincidentally enough, I was thinking something very similar.:)
He's one of those people that if I disagree with something he's said, I tend to just listen quietly rather than immediately attack.
Too bad for all of us, he's addressing his internet forum addiction.:p

Wow. That's the best Christmas present I've gotten, or am likely to get, this year. And I say that not just because my spouse is demanding we buy new living room furniture in January. (We don't need it, but I've been overruled.)
Seriously: Thank you so much Potyondi. I'm literally speechless.
Of course, I return the sentiment, with interest. You are truly one of the bright lights here, one of the people that makes DA so darn addicting. Funny thing is, I find you a bit intimidating, but in a good way. You give a dabbler in history (like me) an idea of what it means to be a true professional. I know there are some topics on which we don't see eye to eye, but that's what makes discussion boards work.
Thanks again, Potyondi.

Thanks! And thanks for being such a great moderator.
I wish I had 1/2 your wicked sense of humor. :)

I've actually been posting mostly on Fade's board, and not addressing my internet forum addiction in any positive way. However, all the insults and name calling are starting to get to me. Not that they particularly bother my tender sensibilities, just that they lower the signal to noise ratio to a point where it just doesn't seem like a good use of my time to post or read there. I've kind of lost any desire I had to be able to tell someone I disagreed with to eff off, which was long one of the attractions of the place.
I'm also busy at work again. I had two weeks where I had (literally) nothing to do. So, I gotta do something. :) Just not sure what, yet. Look for many whiny and navel contemplating posts in this journal. If you can stand it.

Excellent post Potyondi. I too feel that Ironweed gets neither the praise nor the attention he deserves. Ironweed is a diamond in the rough. A champion of criticism and insight. I can’t fathom how the Phora or DA would be without Ironweed whom some would say is Cicero incarnate. :D

You people have excellent taste. The guy is beloved on other internet sites as well. (His addiction is worse than you think.)

But I think they'll be no comp for me this time, and that'll be the end of my life on TMF.
