Where should we get them? Are we hindered by our reliance on mideast and russian oil reserves?

Should we look at opening our own reserves in off shore or artic drilling projects?

Or is the move, to move away from fossil fuels as a whole?

Fossil fuel extraction is an ecologically dangerous undertaking. It should not be done in our wildlife areas.

Yes. OPEC has pushed us around on several occasions.

No, the risk of destruction is too high, plus it enables our petroleum consumption, when in fact we should be moving away from it whenever and wherever possible.

Decrease dependence on them, we don't have to end it completely.

I agree whole heartedly with your last statement. Thats why I like the direction hybrid cars are taking us. It lessens the needed for crude, but isn't just a jump away.

The real culprits though are not 'basic consumers' but rather things like trucking, boats, and other large machines which run off of crude oil derivatives.

And in those sectors there is little advancement.
