I hear a commercial on the radio that said for $48 you could have a star named after you. Has anyone done this? Sounds kinda corny, yet interesting, all at the same time.
any websites about that?

You know i heard about that years ago and always wanted to do it. Just think, 10,000 years from now humans might go on a space mission to your star and you'll be famous:) Plus I think it would be really cool to look up at a star and know it's named after you.
good point.
From what I heard, they give you all kinds of documents telling you that is is legit etc. You also get a map showing you where it is. I assume that if you want to have a star named after you, you should be able to find it on a map, ie.. you are into that stuff.
I just couldn't see getting it as a gift for , say, my wife.
It is a neat idea though

Ya, I would get one with the family last name, so its the gift that keeps on....uh, floating up there in space.
Jody got me one of our one year anniversary.
They give ya a certificate, they give you star charts and someinfo on where your star is and what kind of star it is.
Very cool!

I think that is real interesting. How do you go about doing it? I would like that for my neice and nephew. Something they can always cherish. Heidi, my neice, loves stars. She thinks when ppl pass away they become a star in the sky. I am glad you posted this I think it is a wonderful idea.
I'll see if I can find a link. I heard it on Art Bell last night/this morning
here is a link to the international star registry
