I have an appointment in a few days to get my hair lightened a bit. but my friend told me to NOT do it, she kept going on and on about how she loves my hair the color it is, and that it won't look as good, etc.

So now i don't know if i should do it. :hmm:

I know this thread is no good without pics, but... i'm not on my computer right now, so i don't have a pic to post. I'll try to post one lata. :) But my hair is a dark brown, and it's pretty healthy right now because i haven't lightened it or anything in a few years. So what do you think, keep it dark, or go lighter??

I'll give you the same advice I've given the few other gals that have come to me with a similar question.

Do what is going to make YOU happiest.

Don't do it to impress anybody, or because they thing you should. Don't avoid it because somebody else doesn't think it'll look right. It's just hair color, not a question of moral right or wrong. :) Dying it once in a while won't do real damage to it anyway.

So as long as you think it'll look good and you're not doing it as a quick fix to there supposedly being something wrong with you, go for it. :)

yep, you're right. :) i wanted to do it, cause i'm kinda bored with it, but my friend kept telling it looks better darker, so... i dunno.

If you're just bored with it (hey, it happens) I'd say take a look at other options like a slightly different style before you decide anything. Something'll catch you eye. But anyway, I meant a fix as in feeling you needed it for a self-esteem fix or something like that. Nothing wrong with just wanting an occasional change. ;)

If you want to lighten it for the sake of a change may I recommend going red? Of course I don't know your complexion so I don't really know if it'll suit you but here in colonelville...

Thank you Dawn! :cool: I have had it light before. Actually, it's been all sorts of colors, in the past. :) but keeping up highlights is kinda spendy, so maybe i will just leave it the way it is....

colonel- my hair was red/auburn at one time. :) nah, i don't think i want to do that now.

I say - go for the lighter color - if you don't like it - change it back! That's the good thing about color - if you make a mistake , it's easily fixed!

But - judging from your profile pic - your hair looks great as is!

Well, I love it the way it is. But hey it's your hair so you do what you want. I'm sure if you dye it, it'll look good on ya (unless they really screw up). ;)

Heck, I even did mine once (a dark reddish auburn, nothing too radical from my natural brown) before I chopped it all off.

Just don't chop all yours off too. LOL.

lolz, that reminds me of the time i made the mistake of going to a cheap place in the mall to get my hair colored one time. i ended up having to get it stripped the next day and then it was a light orange color. but no, i didn't shave it off. :D

so what are you gonna do? I went red....and liked it....I'm going back on Monday to get it done again.....I just wanted to experiment...I've been black all my life..so I wanted something different...:D

So I got my haircut on Tuesday. No, I didn't get it colored. ;) Just cut.... a couple inches off the length, but some long layers.... it's not too different than it was before, but I did get some long bangs... long enough that i can put them behind my ears if I want.
