Do you guys think we ever landed men on the moon? Or was it an elaborate hoax?

Biggest piece of evidence that we never landed on the moon lies in the flag footage from the surface of the moon.

The flag is seen waving, but with no atmosphere on the moon, what pushed the flag, giving it the appearance of waving?

Do you have a picture or video of what you're talking about?

The flag wasn't limp, if thats what you mean, because of a wire on the top.

I don't know if I can find footage, but there's also the flag getting blown over when the first landing Apollo unit took off from the moon's surface. You're the astro-physics major, does a shock wave need air to travel, or can the shockwave from the liftoff hit the flag without atmosphere to carry it?

Hah, its very subjective on percise situations...

Short answer, it is 100% possible.

Uh, Zach, the ripples in the photos are not due to the non-existent wind. You'll notice that the flag had a metal support bar across the top? The angled shadows are bdue to the tension between the two parts that the flaq is attached to.

Hey, my mother did the research for HBO's "From the Earth to the Moon" series. I believe we did go to the moon. I'm merely playing devil's advocate.

Well, you aren't that good at it. :p

Neither is the case that we never landed, imo.

Heh. I work with what I got.

They never got there - they showed bits of rock and we all know they should have produced chunks of green cheese.

And who says the moon has no atmosphere? Anything made of old (very old and very stale) green cheese is bound to have an atmosphere:D

has anybody seen the video footage where Armstrong is climbing down the ladder from the lander and a stage light falls onto the Moon? Armstron then gets pissed and yells onto the grip who walks onto the Moons surface from the background. I'd like to know if it's a hoax. It looked real.

There is no moon. It is a conspiracy!

Yes we landed on the moon. Repeatedly.

If you think the moon landing is a hoax, answer this:

Why was the hoax conspiracy done so poorly? Why create a story about such an elaborate, historical accomplishment but leave so many holes and inconsistencies in the story? If it was a hoax, the story wasn't made up by little kids reciting some space travel fantasy... surely they would have scientists of all sorts checking the story out so that people who asked these kinds of questions would find reasonable, convincing answers.

Ive heard bout different shadow angles reflecting off of objects...but there is only supposed to be one angle of shadows and thats created by the sun...Maybe evidence of stage lights? :p

That's because of the moons uneven surface. Look at the shadows of an uneven piece of ground on Earth and you'll see the same thing.

Kareem-

The other thing is, the Earth, is actually a brither light source than the sun, when standing on the moon (due to proximity)

The earth is a secondary light source.

And of course, since it's made of primaevally old and smelly green cheese a naked flame would cause a huge explosion (possibly destroying the Earth or at the very least turning its atmosphere a rather unpleasant shade of green).

Which is why astronauts are not allowed to smoke on duty.

Psst, Kaleun, the green cheese line wasn't funny the first time 'round. :|

How would we know this if we never went?

There is SOME atmoshpere on the Moon, and possible some wind.

There are 3 radar reflecting pyramid style radar reflector bench marks on the Moon.

I think that's the strongest proof we have.
