Nope. Though, I don't know my extended family that well.

My parents used to drink socially quite a bit, but now, rarely. My grandparents basically don't drink.

Nope. None. Either than some people ending up in loony bins on my mothers side, we're all healthy.

oh yea. there's tons of it. both sides of my family are loaded with drinkers. some are social drinkers, some are connoiseurs and others are just plain drunks. My dad used to be a heavy drinker until 1990, one of my uncles is a registered alcoholic and another uncle died of extreme liver damage combined with too many toxins in the bloodstream due to alcohol and drugs. Oh yea, thats another thing... I'm not so sure how everyone is doing now but a couple of my uncles are registered drug addicts. sucks.
I still drink though. I dont drink like everyday or every weekend, but sometimes when I drink, I drink. You'd think I'd have a higher tolerance.

Darned... I meant to pick Pikachu

OK seriously...

My first step father was an alkie, and a violent one too. Nuff said other than that he's a part of why i don't drink myself.

That's about it though, that I know of.

Germans & Irish (& Scots) aren't known for drinking after all

My ex husband was an alcoholic - that's the only alcoholism I've really been in touch with, thankfully.

My aunt is a recovering alcoholic.

Thankfully, she's the only one I'm aware of.

Apparently it ran on my mothers side.

My Grandmother had it and someone else like her mom or aunt or something.

Fortunately my mom saw how it was and it was never a problem for her. It never was a problem for me because I'm just not a huge fan of getting drunk and feeling like **** the next day.

Through the entire family,

my parents gave up drinking when i was concieved, however.

i am genetically predisposed for alcoholism.

i dont care though.

I have an uncle who's a complete sot. Many in my family are social drinkers, but he's the only one I'd define as an alcoholic. It got him booted from the army when he was in Germany back in the sixties and landed in jail many, many times since then. I'd also say it was a big contributing factor to the heart attack he'd recently had.

What's kind of funny about it is that there is a good deal of Irish blood in our family. This heritage only seems to have physically manifested itself in him, though. Most everyone, his brothers, sisters and extended family, have a very dark head of hair and very little body hair (due to the indian genes which are more dominate): he, however, has fat, wavy red hair, furry red arms and big red mustache which is his pride and joy. He was always the oddest one of the family in so many ways... until I came along. heh

It's very strong in my family. I grew up around it, and saw the damage first hand. My sisters and I aren't really big drinkers. We have a sip or two here and there, but that's it. Of course, it helps that alcohol gives me heartburn and makes me sleepy...so it's not attractive in the first place. We cook with it (no alcohol at that point) more than any of us drink it.

Yeah, there's definitely some alcoholism that runs in my family. I'm obviously predisposed to it.

Depressing subject that it is.

Yeah, my dad and my grandfather on my mom's side. My dad is the reason why I don't drink.

i think my sister in law is one. evidence includes mountains of empties at her house and emotional instability due to numerous failed relationships with unemployed ex-convicts. she really knows how to pick them.

Scottish side:
Lots of heavy social drinkers - only two or three psychotic drunks though. :nice:

Italian side:
Old country drinkers - I don't know if they can actually get sloshed, but they drink a bunch of vino with every meal, pretty well.

Me:
I go out almost every weekend with friends and we tend to party hard. I'll never drink alone or when I'm depressed, though. :D

Yes, I'm mostly German with American Indian and Irish to round it out. My dad is the only male in my family who is doesn't have a drinking problem (though he's started drinking a lot more lately). [Hank Williams Jr. music]So if I get stoned and sing all night long, its a, family tradition....[/Hank Williams Jr. music].
