I am joining an armored combat group...what does this entail? I will tell you since you are such a curious individual. :)

I will be going to a fight practice once a week where we will practice with a waster (wooden sword that you don't mind breaking) and learning the basics of historically accurate medieval weapon fighting.

How do we know it is historically accurate? From various books and scrolls that were found from then and other records that show the stances, strokes, hits, blocks and general forms of the combat.

We practice with wooden swords till they are sure we are somewhat safe and then once we get our armor together we can fight in armor with live (but blunted) steel.

Then once we get good enough we join the main group of fighters and tour at renfaires and hire ourselves out at other events that people want to see historically realistic full armored combat. You would be surprised at how many weddings people hire the group for.

Hire?? why yes they actually pay us to go and put on shows of this. So not only do we do this cause we like it but then people pay us to watch sometimes! woohoo! :)

We take a medieval name and get casted as well so we can fit the faire at the time. For example if they have the faire centralized around English and French storyline they will split our group up and we will take french and english names for the weekend in order to keep with the faire.

So I start the practice tonight.

Woohoo! :) :D

I found you a woman you can practice with. A partner, in more ways than one. :p
