Anyone else here fly? I have my private pilots license and have flown about 125 hrs. All in Cessna 150's, 152's and 172's.

Anyone else? ratings? time?

I hope to start up again this summer, been 3 years since I was PIC last :(

I didn't really have a choice. It was required with my degree (aviation management) BUt they took it out about half way thru my schooling, so I finished it up anyways.

Glad I did.

Now, if the city would just give us our raise, I could go renew my medical and start flying again!!! Flight sim 2002 is getting old

very! on the average (around here that is) you can expect to pay 45-75 bux an hour to rent a Cessna 152 or 172. Instructor fees are usually no lower than $15 an hour. So, on the average, it is $75 an hour. There is a minimum of ~40 hours to get your license. so that is $3000 right there. Then add in books ~$200, ground lessons, ~5hrs at $15 an hour, medical $85, $200 instrucotr fee for your check ride, $150 to take the written test and you got over $3700 invested. But in all reallity, no one finishes in 40 hrs (at least no one I know) I had almost 100 hrs when I took my check ride.

But, once you get your license.. it is yours forever! All you have to do to stay current is 2 take offs and landings every 90 days to carry passengers, have a 2 year flight review with an instructor (find a bud who does it :D) and keep your medical current.

very diff. I don't know how many hours it takes, but I know it is expensive.... like up to 200 an hour to rent a rotocraft. And it won't be a nice Bell JetRanger or anything like you see on tv. It will be a rinky dink copter with a Lycoming engine like in cessna's etc.

I had applied for a job in Lafayette a few years ago. I was hoping to get my rotorcraft license while I was there (lots of copters going to the oil rigs)

The best way to get your license for copters would be to join the military.

I just caught this thread. Kraw thanks for the welcome awhile back when ponycar invited me to the board. I don't get here often but I saw this thread and had to answer.

I fly!!! I have a Cessna 172G that ponyposted a pic of himself and his wife with. I also have my multi rating and fly part time in a Cessna 401 & a 310. Flying is one of my true joys in life.

Additionally Kraw I had a look at your website, you have some nice aviation shots there.
