I’m glad to be back home, but wow, Montreal was awesome! By the time I got to the hotel, my jaw was on the ground. Absolutely amazing there. Pretty much everyone speaks English, but it’s predominantly French. To me French is such a beautiful language. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the natives speak.
I had a couple of chances to get out of the hotel and see a little bit of Montreal. First night I was out, we went down to Old Town Montreal, which was nice. Had dinner, walked around a little bit, got trashed. Actually, out of all the nights I was there I was only sober two of them. My boss has this tendency to keep filling your wine class once it gets empty, and I have a tendency to drink whatever is in front of me. Not a good combination...I thought they were gonna kill me with all the alcohol. The second night we got out, we went to the Casino first, and then back to Old Town for dinner. The Casino was awesome! I won $11.50!
Saturday afternoon I got out with a coworker, and we went and saw the Notre Dame Basilica. Spectacular!! I’ve never been in a church that huge before.
Every convention that I go to, I try to eat something I’ve never had before. This year it was creme brulee(not a biggie), melba toast(yummy stuff!!!), french onion soup, caribou, and escargot. The escargot was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever eaten. The caribou was gamey, but it was alright.
I’m happy to be home, but I definitely want to go back, for a pleasure trip, not business.
