I checked on Ebay and couldnt find one that actually works. Does anyone know where I can find a camera for less than $100?

What format of tape? VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi-8, Digital 8, MiniDV, DV-Cam, DVCPro, Betacam SP, Umatic 3/4", D1-D4, 1" reel?

Should be able to get a VHS-C for under 100 at walmart or Kmart. Do they even make VHS anymore? Used i'm sure you could get one for 50bucks easy. The other formats are all either more expensive or outdated and useless, or both. If you want cheap, look again on ebay. I was seeing old VHS/VHS-C's on there pretty regularly for under 150$

I may be incorrect, but hasn't 8mm been virtually entirely replaced by hi-8 in recent years? Not sure you'll find it anywhere but ebay.

Actually we still carry 8mm cameras at Best Buy. But your best bet is to check different stores because old models are being replaced by new ones, so prices are going way down on old cameras.

I bought a sony 8mm last nov for about 300 bux at BB. Pretty good camera for what I wanted to do.

If you want to go really cheap, just go to Wally World, purchase one on your VISA, use it, return it.

People used to do that at Lowe's with lawn mowers. They would buy one, cut grass for about 3 months, then return it. Then, they would buy another one when it was time to cut grass again.

I am not saying it is right, but it happens.
