This thread was inspired by the "incomplete pass" ruling in the Oakland, New England game.

Since the announcers for the game are subject to league approval, is it reasonable to expect "independent" coverage of the game? Do you think the networks should seek to eliminate that clause in the next contract negotiation?

I thought the on-site crew did a half-way decent job of trying to sort through the rules, and still provide on-going coverage.

The post-game analysis was dreadful. Jim Nance, the professional voice and den mother, came closest to expressing an honest opinion ... but was basically contradicted by his three stooges: Mike Ditka, Randy Cross, and Jerry Glanville.

Ditka: "His arm was coming forward."
No kidding Mike. Not only does Ditka's head resemble a block of cement, the density is the same.
Randy Cross: "we live in a slow-motion world. These things happen in a split-second."
Hhhmmm ... appearently what's obvious to most of us, is a great insight to a former lineman.
Jerry Glanville: "I think his left hand touched the ball."
Glanville finally demonstrates he is capable of dropping his little maniac schtick, to make contact with reality.

Based on a replay that clearly showed Brady was not going to release the football, and the mangled, gutless interpretation of the replay, should the NFL drop instant replay?
