There's not much in life I seem to get enjoyment from lately, but man, o, man do I get a kick out of taking my dog to Saturday social hour. $6.00 for an hour, watching your dog act like a knucklehead with from 8 to 12 other dogs. My dog is still a puppy so he's a bit overwhelmed, but I can tell he likes it more than I do. :D

He's also not very big, so he mostly pairs off with a German Short-Hair (don't call it a Pointer) and a Beagle. The other dogs in the session are HUGE (when did the average Golden Retriever and Lab get as big as a German Shepherd?)

He's also made "friends" with a Russian Black Terrier bitch who's also absolutely huge. Cool looking dog. Here's a picture, or a linke to one, since I can't do the image thing.

Black terriers are tall dogs with massive bones and muscles. Their skin is tight without folds or sags. The dogs of this breed are vicious, suspicious of strangers, and easily adaptable to different climatic conditions. They are easily taught.

The dog in the class looks way bigger, and is far, far, far from being "vicious." The cool part is the paws. Even though this is a big dog, they're HUGE compared to the body size. Supposedly this helps them run in the snow. Since this breed was created by the Red Army, I can now point to something good that came out of Communism.

The highlight of today's session was a fight between two German Shepherds. Wow. I've seen dog fights before, but never between two dogs so big. They were quickly dragged apart. One of the Shep's had been picking on my dog, and had been dragged away from him by his owner.

Well, that's the highlight of my week.

Oh, and my dog seems to be the only mutt in the place. 1/2 Aussie Cattle Dog, 1/2 Dalmatian. The Cattle Dog seems to have won out, except for the coloring.
