As my Marine friend would say, "Its a shame we can over throw a gov't, and take over a country, but we can't seem to get the mail straight"
-He received my first letter, before my second. It takes 3 weeks for mail to get to Iraq to the U.S.
Just seems like there could be a more organized, and rush on military mail, for our troops over seas. At least they get free postage.
Not sure if anything can be done about this, or who to even complain too, but I just think its sad our troops are having to wait so long, and when they receive mail, its all out of order, or they dont recieve some mail at all.

It is aggravating. When my husband was in the Gulf War, packages could take months to get there and letters arrived at random.

It is annoying, but understandable. It gets out on a space available basis, and so random bags of letters are thrown in where there is room. Definatly could use some improving, but it will be a hard thing to do really.

I just reminded my husband of our mail problems way back then and he reminded me of an entire load that was dropped over the side of the ship and never recovered. This was before the war even started. Ah - memories.....
It's not just military mail though, it's the PO too. They keep raising the price of a stamp and service seems to get worse and worse.

I was talking to the UPS driver at work about the post office. For being supplemented by the government, and for as much as they are charging right now for stamps, they should be able to balance their budget just fine. They lost something like 3 million last year because they ordered new mail bins, and by the end of the year, people at various businesses had stolen them all. You know the solution? Don't leave them at businesses! Require businesses to have their own damn boxes for incoming mail!
Back to the point though, I'm writing to six soldiers, and I haven't heard back yet. I can't say if it's because they're busy or because they haven't gotten them, because there is no delivery confirmation for troops in Iraq. I was told by the post office that letters were arriving in about 2 weeks, and packages were taking about 2-3 weeks. From what I understand, the mail is shipped to a DOD drop off point on either coast, and then it's ship to the post office over seas, and then shipped to the various companies. You'd think that with all the technology that we have now, that mail to the troops would be a little bit quicker and definately more reliable. I hope and pray each time I send a letter, because recieving letters while you're away from home is one of the biggest morale boosters there is.

I received a letter 2 months after I wrote Jory.. I know it took 20 days for my letter to get here. You can see the delay. I can tell you be patient, that was what I had to do. I was getting very discouraged, but he replied.
Let me know if you get any replies.
