I received this from a friend and thought I would share it with all of you.

Subject: Appreciation

Not everyone supports the president's decision to target Iraq, and many people have made the news lately protesting the potential war with Saddam.
However, lets not forget the thousands of men and women who don't have that right to protest, but have a duty to defend that right; those people who have chosen to serve in our armed forces. This is easy enough, timely, and certainly seems appropriate.

Please visit the Department of Defense web page below and sign in thanking the men and women of the U.S. military services for defending our freedom.

The compiled list of names will be sent out to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are only about 3.7 million names ... from a national population of over 250 million. What a shame. The entire exercise takes 10 seconds...literally. Please pass it on to your e-mail friends.

I would add something...

How many people remember those who fought in the first Gulf War, or in Somalia or Lebanon or from Vietnam.

I do feel its important to support the US army and its people but remember also that there are many who will return and will come home to find that their lives are shattered. Some will be crippled, other will be psycologically destroyed. There will be many US military personel who will come home and find their loved ones have abandoned them. They will loose their homes, their posessions. They will not have jobs waiting for them.

Yes its important to support our troops now, but its just as important to support them when they return.

Today many former GI's are poor. Some are homeless and some are unemployed.

Visit any VA hospital or Soldiers and Sailors home and you will see many of the forgotton of the previous wars.

Lets appreciate all troops, those serving now and those serving in the past.
