Which Millitary Unit is the most versitile, the roughist trained and capible of handling any situation?

Is it the Army Special Forces? Army Rangers, Marine Recon, Navy Seals, British Special Forces, French Foreign Legion, Russian Special Forces, The Gurkias, German Alpine Troops or any other forces you care to mention?

im partial to the seals, my great uncle was in their first group when they formed it, he was one of the first seals, way back in the way of 500lb scuba gear :p

I went with SEALS. Marine Recon are some bad mofos, but I know a few, and that takes some of the mystery out of it.

I've always felt Delta Force was the best of the best.

These are the guys that recruit FROM the Green Berets, and Rangers.

Some of the best CQB and marksmen in the world.

Rangers and army sf troops. The seals are good. DAmn good in fact, but no where near as versatile as the rest of us. Rangers can be recon troops or massive shock wave troops, and sf are some bad mofo's as well. DEfinatly rangers and sf though.

S.F. are not only fighters, but teachers and diplomats as well. It's not all about the fighting.... the unnoficial motto of S.F.: "Winning their hearts and minds."

I have mucho respect for all of our nation's troops, they all go through some tough sh*t.

I went with the seals because in comparison they seem to be rounded. I think being in a special unit has unique qualities to each it's own. They are all great in retrospect. Defending this country is no easy job.

Delta Force,Navy Seals, and those special forces in China are suppose to be real bad too.But I'm sure all have special talents. who

I've always heard that the British SAS was the best, but they can suck it. I voted for the Navy SEALs. I have to think that thier versatility is unmatched.

The Gurkhas were so feared by the Japanese that in the jungle the Japanese could detect a Tiger creeping up on them ,but not the Gurkha.
The Gurkhas were famous for the throat -slitting with a rope of sentries.
They had no fear,mean as hell and the Brits-Indiers(British forces in Asia) relied heavely on the Gurkha.

How the Gurkha is today I do not know.

The FFL were real beasts,when they started some decades ago.
They did lose a lot of their capabilities during WWII and after.

Seals versatility is not only matched but bested quite easily by many other units. Seals are some tough sob's as are all the others. However I cant count the number of times on joint training exercises, that we had to pull rescue missions to locate seals who got lost in the jungles. They had gps for gods sake, and still got lost. At least 3 times i can think of rangers and or marines helped locate the seals who were lost. Thats not versatile. They can walk due to being human, and so consider land ops a part of their repetoire. Army Sf troops have scuba qualified individuals, and they are still normally ranger qualified, sf qualified operatives. They are truely some of the best around. Seals are awesome excellent and i have nothing but the highest respect and admiration for them, but they are a bit hyped up. :)

nobody mentioned the Israeli Defense Special Forces ether. I forgot to include them as an option but they have been proven to be very effective in all situations.

Israeli spec ops troops are outstanding toops

Being ex-Navy, I gotta vote for the Seals.

i have always been told by military people that the DELTA FORCE was the best but most people don't know about them as much as they know about the seals and rangers.
