Have you ever seen the waves(ripples) in Galveston? That should answer your question.

maybe if I lived in the right area, but washinton Is a bod place for it. However, wind-surfing is popular at the gorge.

Chaotic lives in Washington people! 50 degree water was about right for the SF bay & coast when I was there, but it's probably more like 40 degrees where he's at. Maybe worse in the winter.

Actually, unless I'm mistaken, the average water temperature of Puget sound is 56 degrees. I used to dive there quite a bit. Trust me, thats plenty cold.

I windsurfed on two separate trips to the town of Hood River, on the Columbia River. Both times were in July and I used a farmer john style wetsuit with only problem being the water stung my eyes when I wore contact lenses. Contacts are great in salt water but dry out in fresh water apparently.

Make sure your thyroid is in good shape with adequate iodine from sea vegatables or other natural source. The radioactive discharge one may be exposed on the Columbia River from nuclear power plants upstream in Richland, Washington could possibly collect in the thyroid gland if it gets in the body.

Don't think I ever will. I had to get pulled out of a rip tide by a lifeguard once, it was probably the single most embarassing moment of my life.
