Honestly, there are a TON of variables there... Not the least of which is how badly it got broken. How fast you heal & how much you baby it are also gonna factor in there quite a bit...

I either broke or badly sprained a finger playing football once & it took about a month to properly heal. It was my right hand though & got alot of use, so it healed slowly. On the flip side, I broke a bone in the top of my foot and it took about 2 weeks or so before it was largely healed up (I've still got a nice knot there however:D ). So averaging them out, my guess would be about 2 weeks to a month.

BTW... Take karate like me and lean how not to break a toe when you kick something. :D:D:D

My husband broke BOTH his heel bones in Nov 2000 and STILL limps. He was in a cast for 6 months and still has pain, but a toe might not be as bad.

I've broken my toes at least three times now...and, while it hurts like a bitch, it does heal pretty fast. Just wear big, comfy shoes with thick socks, or sandals for a few weeks, and you'll be fine. Last time I broke it, I couldn't walk at all on that foot - all the bones shifted around every time I stepped down on it, and the one kept trying to poke out (gross). But that took longer to heal than a minor thing, I'm sure...I was able to walk normally again within a week or so, and the swelling and gross bruises and whatnot were gone within a couple weeks. So yeah - just be careful with it for a while, and you should be fine soon (assuming it's not your big toe - I think that's supposed to heal much slower, and may even need to be set by a doctor...I'm not sure).

Just don't let anybody step on your toes, evertime I've had a broken toe it seemed like everybody was trying to step on my toes. That hurts like hell..

I think it may just be badly dislocated or hurt and not broken, cause she was able to hobble around on it (kinda) today, and the swelling was already going down.

Poor thing!

*BAD* idea...I was in tears every time I tried to put those things on, when I broke my toe (well, the several times I broke my toe, rather...) If it's still hurting, I'll be surprised if you can get anything more than sandals or big, comfy slip-ons on.

Edit: By the way, I've kicked a hole through the wall in my bare feet before...most crappy walls today you don't need steel toes for. They don't make em like they used to.

Steel-toe boots are neccisary for some jobs, but thats about all they have use for.

And about the broken toe, go see a doctor.

Actually, you probably don't need to go see a doctor...I never did - they just look at it, go, 'Yup, it's broken. Take some Advil and try not to kick stuff for a couple weeks.' They don't set broken toes. If it's swollen and purple and gross after a few days, or if it hurts too much to walk on after a few days, then you might want to call your doctor and ask him or her what they think...but, chances are, they won't be able to tell you much of anything.

Exactly KT.

We did call the doctor. They said they'd just tape it and give her some motrin. They don't xray, set, or anything with toes.

She's able to hobble around now,and the swelling/bruising is starting to subside, but she is still in a fair amount of pain.

But I think all will be well, if maybe a little crooked. ;-)

I hope it heals fast....I know how that pain can be. Hell, I still have pain in the toe I broke in May, if I push on it at all - the bone behind it in my foot doesn't quite line up right now, which can be less than fun. I'm fairly sure it's a bit crooked, too...but far from noticeable.

She has two weeks. We're seeing the Vandals on the 21st!
