Well I bought my gamecube yesterday, for about $420, I got the gamecube system, 2 extra controllers, a memory card, Madden 2002 (Isnt it 2001 right now?), Super Smash Brothers Melee, and a Disk Dr.

I took it home and Cody and I sat down to play. We put in Madden... we watched the gnarly intro video, we were happy, we picked our teams, we set foot on the field. Cody kicked me the ball.

And the game cube turned itself off.

Ok maybe it was a mistake... we turned it off and back on again and picked our teams and set to the field... ah this time it let me return the kick...wonderful, now I pick a play and start to ru-....

and my gamecube...just...shut...off...

Well maybe its something wrong with Madden...we can just put in Smash Brothers and play that...

ooh this looks cool, I like the full motion video... ok weve picked our players and its time to fight... oooh I like the vi-.......

Well after some futzing around we figured out it was Codys controller that was giving us grief... for some reason it was killing the gamecube, so we swapped it for the other one I had bought and commenced with the gaming...

It was pretty rad... Madden was awesome, as was Smash Brothers... Once we got past the initial glich everything was great.... I didnt even notice any load time on Smash...

Was his controller a non nintendo controller or something?

Well it was one of the two that I bought...

yet mine worked fine... on a sidenote the gamecube controller is REALLY sexy... I had alot written here but Im going to go make a new post

I played the gamecube a while ago, and I wasn't too impressed. I think they made Madden 2002 look more ... childish. The players looked more rouned and cutesy. Luigi's Mansion looks very promising, I could get into that after my aspirations of becoming a ghostbuster.

I've actually had my friend's game cube hang on my while playing Star wars.

Star wars was pretty cool...

It depends on what you mean by childish... the graphics look very similar to the ones on the dreamcast to me for Madden 2k2... but I havent studied that much in depth. The models are more curved, but the way they move is incredible... the movement is very fluid and realistic.
