It is a known fact that German Scientists built both the Russian and American space programs. What happened is after WW2 we basically kidnapped German scientists as did the Soviets. I read once that there were actual street battles between Soviet and American forces in various neighborhoods where German Scientists lived, each trying to capture the scientists.

The part of German scientists being abducted by the US forces is true, though Germans probibly followed the example of Werner VonBraun and chose the Americans fearing ill treatment at the hands of the Soviets. I have not heard about the US fighting the Soviets over scientists. Do you have any sources?
