Seems like one of those things you should do, like brushing and flossing. Only problem is, the benefits of brushing and flossing are immediately apparent, whereas a lot of the entries I've made here and elsewhere mark me down as either tedious or deranged. Or both.

I just don't seem to have the drive to keep one. Or, not like I should. Perhaps I should become a Mormon. I think I read somewhere that keeping a journal is part of their religion, or so close to it that it might as well be.

My wife says she was cured forever of keeping a journal when, at the age of 13, her brothers found hers and read it aloud at the dinner table. That must've sucked.

Note: My wife's parents are idiots. Wouldn't surprise me if they found something like that funny.

More in a bit. I'm just blathering between returns.

It is one of those things you can only appreciate after a significant investment.

Like physical exercise. You won't grow large muscles in a single sitting, or tone your body to reveal a siz pack in a few weeks. The goal is only reached after a lengthy process, and then must be continued, so long as you wish to keep up the fruits of labor.

It's a testament to the past. Your past specifically.

Journals are either for those with a great deal of self-obsession and/or those who are goal oriented.

I've kept a journal forever. It's great to page through them when I'm bored. Brings back a lot of great memories.

I guess it boils down to me being lazy. Or not having any good memories to speak of. Or something.

Poo on the not having any good memories bit.

You don't have to write in it everyday, there's times when I go weeks without writing, then there's times when I'll write twice a day. Computers make it oh-so-easy. I have a document saved and I just go in and add to it whenever, when it's a few pages long - print it and put it in the book.

You're obviously at your computer right now, so GO WRITE!

LOL. Yes, and I think I will start one up again. Probably what I'll do is enter a week worth of dreck as one message here.

Since I generally do what I say I'm gonna...Hopefully this message will give me initiative.
